Then clearly we hear two different types of stories. It just doesn't make sense to block it at a dealership level when they would make money from Mitsubishi anyways. I really think people are giving you some misinformation or misunderstanding that the block comes from a regional level. For a dealership to block it makes NO sense. I know if a part gets replaced at the dealer it is sent back to Mitsubishi corporate. Perhaps claims being denied at the dealer are being denied because the dealership knows Mitsubishi corporate will be pissed if they send back a clearly abused part.

You're right, it doesn't make sense. That's why there's only one dealership we go to in this area (out of 5-6), because they understand this basic concept and realize it makes no sense to deny warranty claims unless they know for a fact that a particular part will get flagged and inspected by a regional rep. For example, when I had them do my clutch, the flywheel and PP were obviously abused, and whenever there is a low mileage clutch claim, the Mitsu reps ALWAYS want to see it first...they knew this and knew that the condition of the parts would result in a warranty denial, so they told me up front. I saw the parts myself and couldn't help but laugh at how much I killed the flywheel (complete mirror), so I had no problem with their estimation. In most other cases, though, the warranty claim would not require that parts be sent to or seen by the regional reps, yet they deny the claim up front. This happens time and time again with people who have mods and come in for unrelated warranty claims.

close, if the parts are sent back to the claims department, and they see or feel that the parts have failed due to abuse or lack of maintance, they charge the dealer back for the repairs, so if a dealership feel that the vehicle has been abused and the particular part that failed will show signs of abuse, they most likely will not cover it under warranty. example: customer comes in complaining of a rattle from the engine, dealer brings car in, finds bottom end knocking, check oil, finds oil to be blacker that tar. check the service history with the customer, find out the oil hasnt been change for a extended period of time, 8k+ miles. farther inspection found rod bearings to be bad. <--- not a warrantable repair. but say that the oil had be change ever 3k and required with oil that meets or exceds factory requirments, then that repair would most likely have been warrantable. hope that helps

I had a good experience with Don Herring Mitsu in Plano, TX.

Their service rep was courteous and kept me informed whenever I had my car in for repairs. All the TSBs were done by them and recently my transfer case was replaced as well without any problems. My car is bone stock btw.

Tsurara, I am glad at least you had a good experience with Herb C in Natick...I brought my car there, they replaced the t-case, filled it with gl-4 oil, just like the tranny (the service manager admitted they use the same oil), and within 100 miles, it was whining again, just me driving it back home to Haverhill. Gary Cassidy, PITA regional up here, looks at it, and tells me since he wouldn't have approved the first warranty of the t-case, even tho this one was his guys' fault, he isn't going to cover it. I reminded him of Consumer Protection laws, and that just because someone made a mistake earlier doesn't mean he can simply refuse this now. So I have a claim outstanding against MMNA, and the dealership with the BBB and CPA. All dealers will get you eventually. Even with modest mods and 14,000 miles in 3 years, they still all suck. The funniest thing is that when I bought my car from Danvers Mitsu, I got a copy of 2 Fast 2 Furious on DVD (haha). They market, sell, and encourage modding of these cars, the have the audacity to invite me back to drive some of the best-backed cars in the world. I do no launching, yeah some racing on the track, but no power shifts, replaced most mounts and bushings early on...it boggles my mind they're still in business. My 2 cents...

Max Madsen Countryside in Chicago has always treated me top notch. I've never had any difficulty getting warranty work done and they've been honest and stand-upish (perhaps because I've been the same). They don't needlessly charge me for things, because they want to keep me as a customer. At the same time, they do make me pay for things when _I_ foul them up.

Fair is fair, ya know? I wouldn't take my car anywhere else in chicago.

San Rafael Mitsubishi in Nor Cal is the best dealer I've ever been to. Their service level is above and beyond any of the Toyota, Nissan, Ford or Volvo dealers that I've been to.

Glad you have had a good experience there. As for me, I will never ever go back there for anything. Had more than a couple of very bad experience there. IMO, I think they are the worst Mitsu dealer in AZ! I rather take it to Superstition, probably the one that you've mention 3.5 miles away from you.

Darcars Mitsu in Silver Spring Maryland.

I drive about 2 hours to go there when there are other dealers that are closer...

I got a fair deal and the service department has been nothing but stellar so far...

I've been dealing with Swope Mitsu in Radcliff, KY for 3 years now for my 2000 Eclipse before I traded it in for my 2003 EVO and those guys are great. The parts and service department are top notch. There always friendly and know there stuff. The mechanics there are awsome! CW is great and I hate to think of anyone else working on my EVO. Tony, the service manager, always takes the time to explain in detail everything and never fails to answer my questions. (he even replaced 3 brake calipers when they were peeling..and what a headache that was for him...THANKS TONY!!). Roger and Paul in parts are always courtious and if they can always find what I'm looking for. They've hooked me up every time I've bought something there.

In all, I would definatly recommend Swope Mitsu. If your in the Louisville area make the trip to Radcliff, it'll be well worth your time.

BTW, if your one of those guys who's trying to get your car fixed for free because YOU wanted to play and don't want to pay, don't waste their time. There friendly, but not stupid. They're not as strict as some dealers on warranty issues, but won't pay for your mistakes (and they shouldn't have to).

I'm leaving for Germany in September and my EVO is going to my brother's in Myrtle Beach. The only thing negative I have to say is I'm gonna miss having such professionals working on my car. Hopefully Shoreline Mazda/Mitsu can live up to my expectations.
