These are my preferences, but I'd stick with Mobil 1 great oil and OEM filter, their easy enough to get.

Car takes 5.1 Qts. with filter, 4.8 without, 17mm drain plug.

Wayne,
I would stick with Mobil One through the end of your warranty. They will deny your motor/turbo life if they sense and may even test your oil if you run into problems. I have noticed the OE filter is the best fit and the 6607 Oil filters available are multi application and are too long and skinny to fit properly. The sealing ring works although OE is best that I have found. Also make sure you get yourself a crush washer for the oil plug. Hope that helps.

The K&N is a good filter too. I forgot to mention that.

So does everyone get a new washer with each oil change? After my first do-it-myself I was getting a few drops of oil on the floor overnight. Tightened it maybe 1/8 - 1/4 turn more and it stopped, but it occurred to me that the crush washer may have the tendency to get flat over time.

Where would you get a new one?

Thanks

You can get the crush washer from the dealer. Do the oil and change yourself and it is less than $30. You can get the Mobil 1 at Walmart in a 5qt jug for around $20.

stick with mobil 1 that way youre warranty cant get denied just because of oil. do yourself a favor if youre going to have the dealer do it bring your own oil. i just had my first oil change yesterday and it was 65 bucks. they used an oem filter but in my other two cars i used a K and N filter and was very happy with it. also they did change the plug thing whatever its called (i forget already).
as a side note i only had 2500 miles on my evo and not only was my oil low, but it was black dealer said nothing was wrong with it though. weird

I am going with Royal Purple myself. I have ran it with great results in my past two cars, Porsche and Mini. Many engine builders use the stuff and it is a full syn. Just my .02.
