how do you take off the undertray?

I can't take off the undertray. I tried to unscrew the srews but just keep rotating w.o coming out. So i thought they might have been clips and i pulled to no success. Can you please tell me how to take it off.

Take a big stubby philips head screw driver and unscrew lightly until the middle parts backs out enough you can grab it. Unscrew the rest of the way with your fingers until you can pull the whole clip off. Repeat this about a million times until you have all of those plastic screws out and throw the entire tray up into your attic! When you feel as though you're DONE modding the car and don't need to get under the front part of the engine anymore...it's safe to put it back on.

Believe me, as soon as you put it back on...you'll but a lower i/c pipe, an o2 housing, a new hotside, or SOMETHING that'll make you take it off again. I think I've replaced everything possible now (except the turbo), so I'm putting my tray on again after having it off for the last 4 months.

Apply light pressure to the screws and they SHOULD back out. Most likely not, so grab a small pry bar and go to town. You wont hurt anything, maybe break a few, so go buy a pack a ten from the dealer for like 5-10 bucks. You really don't need to put them all back in anyway. I wouldn't leave it off for a long time although. I left mine off for a few weeks, and my air filter got super dirty.

Thumbs up

what i used to do is hold the outside plastic while turing the plastic screw lightly. i evtually tossed the undertray from taking it off so much.

Make it easy on yourself and jack it up from the jackpoints behind each front wheel and stick a jackstand under each one. Are you changing your oil or something? If so, you don't have to take the undertray off.

installing a turboback. Well i heard its best to jack it up from that point and I was curious at where it was. Here is what i am talking about: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...highlight=jack

the little pictures in the middle of the page. Also how should i jack it up if all 4 wheels are going to be off the floor? Side to side? front to back? or it dont matter.

That middle point in the picture is the tow hook I believe...if you're jacking all four up...don't do it there!!!! Do you have 4 jack stands...or 2 jack stands and 2 ramps? If you're putting all 4 up, you want to have it supported in 4 points, NOT 2! When we did my turbo-back, we just put the front end up on ramps and went from there.

I only have 2 stands. When I jack up the car the jack is in the way of the jackstands at the point of where it should be held up. Where do i get these ramps at? damnit im frustrated hhaha and from jacking up the damn car!!!
