Loud screeching noise from wheels?

I've never had this problem before, but today I was driving and I had my music on and I noticed that there was a loud screeching sound. I rewound the cd to see if it was in the song, but it wasn't. Has anyone had this before?

You are down to the wear indicators on the brake pads. Time to change it.

highly doubtful on an 05. mine squeals loud in reverse. also one time the other day it sounded like my bov was stuck for a couple of secs, made a loud squeal from the front like something was against the rotor. but i could not find the source and it never happened again.

i have had a loud squeal when i am slowing down at a stop light. i had read before on here somewhere that the brembos will do that from time to time. i have around 3800 miles on my 05, so i hope that it isnt time to changes brakes already (i do drive it hard on occasion, but very few hard stops) it does it about once every two weeks or so, and seems to be after a rain. maybe this is what you heard, maybe not. either way i hope this helps, and that you find out what it was.

just look at the pads.

take the rim and tire out, turn the wheel, make sure you check both the inside and outside pads.

usually the inside ones are first to go.

How long do the stock brake pads usually last anyways? I have 27k miles on mine, and still going (that's with numerous autox's).

Well, the sound didn't come from braking, because when it happened I was just driving. The sound is really strong like a screeching/ scrapping type. Ah, anyways thanks guys for the input. I'll have my brakes checked anyways.

I have that exact same thing! I think it is the brakes, because the sound will appear while im cruising, but then when i lightly apply the brakes, it will go away. I think my rotors are warped so part of them are scraping against the pads. Next time you hear the sound, lightly apply the brakes and see if it goes away.
