newb Q

Can I dial in an MBC for best reliable performance and then just leave it? Or will I have to adjust it periodically depending upon temp or altitude or other factors?

But from what I've read and from talking w/ Mike and other this MBC is Awesome. I'm ordering one tomorrow and the Type RS Kit BOV.
We ARE offering this in Black, but the first production run was Polished only.

Al/DynoFlash only received Polished, though.

Black should be available in the next production run. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of a black one.

Once the boost controller is set, there is no reason to adjust it unless you are looking to change your boost pressure. The ratcheting mechanism of the units also serves as a locking feature to maintain a certain setting.

I am not sure how changes in altitude will affect boost pressure, however, but the unit will not change it's own setting. Again, the ratcheting feature also serves as a locking mechnism preventing any unwanted adjustment just from daily driving, vibrations, and usage.

We have chosen to use a steel ball for reliability's sake. This particular ball was "chosen" because if it's size and weight and it's perfect compatibility with this unit. We tested other size stainless ball bearings but this was the optimal performer. There will be no noticeable difference between the performance of this steel ball and a ball of any other material and this one should last forever.

Consider, all of our products and each of their complimentary components come with a lifetime warranty.

As I have said at least two times in this thread already (please read all of the pages), we do not currently plan to include vacuum tubing, but we are looking into the possibility of doing so in the future. This product is available and used for numerous other applications as well, so we need to ensure that they are packaged with a sufficient amount for every possible application.

The unit is already capable of being mounted inside the cabin, but the vacuum tubing will need to be sourced separately (or from us) for the time being.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The black anodized units should be available within the next two weeks, around the same time as the polished ones.

There is no additional charge for black vs. polished.

Is there realistically any loss of performance (spool, holding boost, etc.) from using longer vacuum hoses to mount a MBC inside the cabin? I've never seen anyone do any testing on this issue... and with gas prices raping me, I'd love to convert to an in-cabin MBC and sell my TXS HP MBC.

Also, one of the pics of the Forge unit has a smooth top that says "- BOOST +" and another has a small grip that says " - Forge +" ... which one is the final unit going to look like?

I'm definitely interested in a black unit... let me know when they're available and how to purchase one, thanks. =]

I believe Mike stated the small gripped unit is the production unit.

The unit with the "grip" on the top is the production version. The smooth top version was a pre-production unit. We will change the picture on our website at the earliest opportunity.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have 200 units being produced on the CNC machines in the UK as of today!

They will not be polished/anodized and completely assembled for up to 2 weeks from now, but we should start receiving some small initial quantities within the next week or so.

At this time, I would recommend contacting Al/Dynoflash, Buschur, GSC, or another of our distributors to purchase this product.

Some of these distributors may not have stock at this time, but would probably not have an issue starting a waiting list.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In all reality, there is NO increase in spool time nor additional lag, nor any other adverse effects when mounting this inside the cabin when using such small diameter vacuum line. A 3mm or 4mm bore vacumm line, even in a reasonably longer length, still does not have enough internal volume to create any of these issues.

It is always recommended to use the shortest and smallest vacuum lines allowable, however, so an engine bay mounting solution is ideal with this unit.

As I have already stated, at this time, there are no plans to offer anything similar to the Hallman cable/knob/extender thingy. Doing so would force us to eliminate the ratcheting feature of our unit which aids in learning your settings and also serves as a locking mechanism to prevent any unwanted adjustments. This is a unique feature that we have every intention of maintaining.

Good news on the 200 more units

As for vacuum lines a longer hose will not hurt spool up it just slows down response time on the wastegate.

IMHO in cockpit controlers are a needless compication which turns the install into a significant hassel. With a properly designed MBC you really do not have to frequently adjust it.
