hey guys would you buy a galant vr4 for 3k-4k. it was advertised as rebuilt motor. looks like it got repainted. if I get this what would I have to look for. thanks for your input. or should I post this in a dsm forum. anyone could redirect me to a good forum for this type of car

Pics and more info would help alot, too many variables with this car..I have owned 5 galants previously and paid anywhere between 2500 and 10,000 for them..Excellent car BTW and since it is NOT a DSM you can expect BETTER build quality then the eclipse/talon.. www.galantvr4.org

Now that I have an Evo there is really no interest in buying a Galant VR4. They are basically the same car, 4 door sedan, AWD, 4G63. The Evo is higher performing and looks better. The Galant though is a sleeper. I use to want one, then I heard of the Evo but it wasn't available here yet.

With the rebuilt engine, as long as it was done by a decent shop (ask for invoices or receipts) the car is a decent deal. 1991 was a good year for them. No crankwalk on the pre 1995 motors (even though crankwalk was overblown thanks to the internet). I would take a look at it in person and drive it. The only real downside to them is that they were heavy when compared to the eclipse.
Check it out !
Good luck!

I was just bout to tell my brother to buy one since he wishes he had an EVO and he was looking into gettin a Eclipse GSX. There're a little had to find as they were only made for two years (91-92), I believe.

yeah, there was only 1500 of them made I believe. They all had numbered plaques that specify their serial number. Most guys have their 'number' in their sig or something like that.
Great cars, identical powerplant and drivetrain to the 90-6/92 TEL's. But yes, they are heavy to the tune of 3400 lbs dry.
The main drawback I always saw was that the engine bays are very cramped compared to the t/e/l platform. They really shoehorned that 4g in the bay. I also don't know so much about the sleeperness of them anymore since most people in the know will realize it had a 4g in it so it's dangerous. Also, it seems like everyone assumes that if a 1g or gvr4 is still on the road, it's got to be fast since it was well maintained to still be on the road and as such, most likely modified at some point. But then again, that is probably just a regional assumption.
