Question about using a Honda battery

Hey all,

I'm wanting to run a mini-battery kit so I can get a nice flowing upper ic pipe, however I will also be running a navi system, a 10" sub, and some other electronics.

With all the mini-battery kits out on the market, they're not really great for running accessories..

So I was thinking of running a smaller battery, like a 51R (comes stock on the TSX's/RSX's), and OPTIMA has a 51R in a deepcycle which is great.

As long as I can custom fab some kind of tray to hold it in place, are there any drawbacks, or any reasons why I shouldn't get a battery in that size?

If so, please let me know.

thanks in advance!

- Najeeb

i don't really see why it would present any kind of problem, i mean a battery is a battery when it all comes down to it. i'm talking when comparing car companies, not individual batteries. my S2000's battery was pretty small too, could always check into that.

good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

I am not sure but doesn't the battery only start the car? the alternator is what really is in question when you start putting alot electronics in a car. I know that in police cars one the up grades is that these cars come with larger alternators to powere the electronics in police cars. I could be wrong I was just going to throw that out there.

alternator only works while driving the car. it can't power the accessories(radio, etc.) while the car is off, which is where people with small batteries run into trouble.

it depends, yea it might be smaller in size but you have to look into CCA (cold cranking amps). gotta make sure it can support what you alternator can charge.
