Is there any difference in these vacuum sources?
Just installed my autometer boost guage. It reads 0 when car is off, drops to -20 psi at idle, but when I rev to 7K in neutral it rises from -20 up to around 0 psi and then drops back a bit. I reckon my connections are good, otherwise it would be leakinmg under vac as well as boost and wouldnt read a healthy -20 (which is what I believe it is supposed to be at idle).
So could it either be a crapy guage or bad vac/boost source. I I teed into this line
http://bolsen.homeip.net/index.html
as opposed to this one

Is there any difference?
I will be phoning autometer tomorrow when they open to see what they say

Some *say* there is, but I've yet to see any hard evidence.
However, in this case, the problem is not with the product... or even the install. It's that you don't know what you are looking for. As Seeya said, the motor does not create boost in neutral. Moreso, the gauge does not read -20 psi... it's rated in in. Hg.(technically it's a positive measurement...) -20 psi would be a baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad thing

Well, I went into work and connected the guage up to our in-house nitrogen supply. It read ~19 psi, which is what it should. I reconnected it and did a quick run under load and it looks like it went to ~16 psi. Might have a leak.
Bolsen,
Does it matter if you tee in directly off the intake manifold before or after that thing (looks like it is some sort of sensor or solenoid with an electrical connection)?
Your installation is after, and the other one I listed is before.

In theory, you're suppose to tap it at link#2 you posted. My dad's friend who works on cars told me if you tap it at link#1 location, the data will be slightly modified, but not by much and not all the time.
I also heard that Evos that came with the factory boost gauge tapped it at Link#1 location. Can someone confirm this please?
