Evos are strong in the first 1/8th mile (obviously), but the Z06 really, REALLY pulls on the top end. The back half of the track is where it's at home (and on races from a roll).
In a word, yes...check out my signature and that is with less mods too. From a roll would I would get owned.

Old Z06 yes New Z06 no. You have a chance if you slap on a bigger turbo, with the right supporting mods and a good driver. That car is a beast out the box High 11's at 120 something in the quarter. 7.0liters. MONSTER!

A big part of your question should be Hang where?. What kind of road or racing situation are you talking about? My experience with the C5 Z06 is that performance difference with the Evo 8 has a lot to do with the track. I race at several different tracks and the results are varied. Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI is my favorite place and the C5 Z06 is the main rival car. The Z06's are always faster down the straights (3 sections), but I can always gain in the braking and cornering areas. I've timed the car(s) many times (Hot Lap) and the results are very, very close. After talking to a lot of the Z06 guys, I think a part of this has to do with the overall driving feel. Pushing the Z06 (385 or 405HP versions) to the limit is pretty scary. I say this from experience. Pushing my MR to the limit is pretty comfortable. Over steer and under steer situations are easy to control and the steering feel rocks. The Vette feels more like a wild animal. I think if you put an experienced racer in the Z06, it would be decidedly faster. Since most of us at these events have to drive home in the car, running at 9/10ths is the norm. In that situation the Evo is a good match for the older Z06.

When I had me EVO 366whp was enough to hang with a 02 z06 (w/exhausts) from a 30 to 100mph roll.

Bone stock C5 Z06's dynoe between 350's and 360's at the wheels usually. They are also fairly good aerodynamically, and can run well over 120 mph without needing 5th gear. Which is why in a drag setting it would be a drivers race (unless the z06 is on slicks, then it would a very tough opponent) and on a top speed run I can't see it not pulling away the higher the speeds get to.

Yup, that was my experience too. I was able to beat the new non-z06 Vettes in the corners but on the straits they destroyed me. However, I believe with a very good driver they would rock the corners too. These machines are very fast and hopefully one day I'll get one for myself too

11.5 @ 127.1 is what Motor Trend recently tested a 07 Z06 at. So I definitely would not hang with the 07 but an stock 02 is not a problem. However I don't think it will take a bigger turbo either for the 07 in the quarter mile at least. Meth/alchohol injection, cams, stroker motor, supporting mods and good driver should make it possible. Curt Brown hit a high 10 with the stock turbo, built motor and some great driving. From 40 - 50 mph on up (a good roll), the EVO would still get owned. The Z06 is definitely on my kill wish list, but also on my purchase wish list too

Here is what the Buschur stage 4 did with Curt behind the wheel...

This is at last years shootout, car went 11.58 the same day, so 120 on the stocker I would say is childs play.
I'm not sure about child's play or I should say makes me want to be a kid again. At 120mph plus traps 11.4 - 11.5 is not a problem and with the mods originally posted by hawaiievo an 02 Z06 should not be problem either in the quarter mile.

you people are ignoring each others posts, and then contradicting one another.

02 zo6 ~12.5 1/4 mile
his evo should be low 12's.

Therefore, drivers race until after the 1/4 mile at which time the zo6 will start opening a lead, the faster it goes the bigger the lead.

From a higher speed roll the zo6 will prolly start to walk away and then run away

my 02 cents

I'll say it again Curt Brown's numbers cannot be used in any EVO debate because like Shep he is not human.

Ivey trapped a 115mph with his 380awhp+ EVO look in the AMS vendor section under the AMS Alky post last page. That is a stock Z06 trapspeed right there, so I still say from a roll the Z06 should win. From a dig it's all in the EVO's favor.

I think thats fair to say. However, at least when shep was running 8.60s and such, other DSMs were in competition with him like Glazar, however Curt Brown... 10.9s? 124mph? I havent even seen 120mph from ANYONE with stock turbo yet!
