No, it runs smoother with A/C on. With stock cams the idle is disrupted a little bit with the A/C on. My idle is a little lumpy with the 272s and the added rpms that the A/C provides helps smooth it out.

Save your money, I had the Mitsubishi Hyperground wire kit on my last EVO a 2005 MR and I didn't notice a difference. I would not add it to my 2005 GSR w/SSL if anyone paid me for it.

Save your money, and any potential headaches from having to troubleshoot a potential component in the ignition/electrical system.

As far people claiming -

Smoother Idle - DID NOT NOTICE A DIFFERENCE
Better Gas Mileage - DID NOT NOTICE A DIFFERENCE
More power - DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCE
Smooth Acceleration - DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCE

To me it's all placebo, and a bling bling item that doesn't need to be on the car.

To each his own, but we have the dyno sheets and gas reciepts to prove better gas mileage and more torque.

yes I have the diy kit
The idle was smoothed out considerably especially when the ac is on.
My butt dyno didnt notice a difference in power but acceleration through the entire rpm range did seem to be smoothed out as well.

Scoot - Did you guys dyno this before and after install, at the same humidity and ambient temperature, on the same dyno? Also, how did you attest to better gas mileage? Did you shift at a certain rpm before and after installation, not boost above a certain point, do only the same type driving before and after in the same conditions with the same amount of weight each time with the same amount of gasoline down to exact amount in the tank?

My point is all these factors play an important role in calculating torque or gas mileage. One day a car might get more torque or gas mileage just because of the outside conditions than it did the other day. Claims like these need to be proven in a closed, stable environment, which i have yet seen.

We used the same dyno (with same guy running tests) and have before and after graphs. The temp was reletively the same(doesn't change much in S.D.) Gas mileage before cams and gounding kit was apprx. 200-215 a tank. With cams, supriseingly, 225-240. Now with cams and ground kit I average 245-260 a tank. Driving patterns remained the same, occasional spirited pulls getting on fwys and what not, while still keeping it under 4k rpm for the most part when driving around town. Did we actually test for a gas mileage improvement? No. This is just an obvious observation from myself that I'm now getting better mileage by resetting the trip meter after every fill up. I wouldn't expect results to be the same for everyone, all I'm saying is that we've seen positive results on my car.

Here is a picture of mine. Cost me $20 total. It helped with idle (while A/C was on)after installing smaller battery kit!

Scoot - I gotta admit, those are good gas mileage numbers. I just never had much faith in that mod. Maybe I'll make my own some day and see what I get out of it.

I didn't have much faith in it at first either. I thought it was more of a dress up piece, but I got it for free so I figured why not. Here is a pic. The condenser always glows blue even when the car is off but does not drain the battery at all.

complete waste of time and money! I had one on my evo and the only thing it did was clutter the engine compartment. I really dont think that adding grounding wires will solve the issues you are having with you bov.

I already get 320 miles to a tank of gas on my 2005 EVO GSR...so you getting 260 to a tank isn't really saying much.

Temperature changes, the fact that you can't replicate a 60-80mph headwind coming into the intake, heat saturation, are factors that cannot be consistently replicated on a dyno 100%.

Thre is NO way you could say you got better gas mileage. Too many factors, hills, wind, temperature, etc. TOO many variables that would never be consistent over the course of 1 mile of road for you to gauge better mileage.

Unless you were in a 100% controller environment, ALL factors being equal, your claim of better mileage is like talking to a wall.

Keep your foot of the gas if you want better mileage...

BTW, unless you can do a before test COMPLETELY controlled and an after test COMPLETELY controlled with all the same variables (engaging the throttle the same ALL the time, wind, temperature, atmospheric conditions, same engine temperature, etc., same road doing IDENTICAL speeds, and anything else) your claims are void.

the kit gives you a smoother idler, and a more even voltage reading. A/C doesn't make my skin jiggle anymore. grab a voltage meter and see what happens on the before and after.
