In order to extend engine, and in this case TURBO life, you will I might even recommend a 700 mile for the first change. New engines tend to give off alot of particulate metal which is a bearing killer.
I Do understand Mitsubishi's theory though. Thermodynamics (Expansion and contraction) of the metal will work the new oil and additives into the gaskets and seals.
But if I were you, and wanted a good long engine & turbo life, I would change OFTEN at first.
