If you're looking for a quiet and exquisite tone then the RMR is what I would recommend.

Do you mean the RS*R ExMag. That's what I have on my car and it is really very conservative. Anybody trying to tell you that it's as quiet or quieter than stock is either crazy, deaf, or selling them. But it really is one of the quietest aftermarket exhausts I've ever heard. Fitment is beautifull and the looks are 99% OEM.

Even after recently adding a 76mm downpipe and 3" HFC the noise level is the same...although now I can hear the turbo whistling away at idle.

nope he means RMR...it's not particularly loud

Stock the Evo is not a quiet car by any means, but some careful searching can yield and exhaust that is not too much louder than stock

Greddy EVO2 all the way, looks very stock and sounds super quiet, I have yet to once be hassled by the cops for it.

I went with a high flow cat knowing fully weel that they are not that reliable. I have seen stock Cats go bad at around 80K and the cost to replace them is about $600. I would rather save my stock cat to when I need to pass smog and use a high flow cat instead. If the high flow cat fails, I can always get a cheap replacement for $145. It is far better than paying around $600 for a stock cat.

Check out the sound clip in my signature. It is for an Invidia exhaust. I have added a JIC dp and a high flow cat since that sound file, but the TBE is amazingly quiet. A lot of people who have TBE mention that driving above 70 mph or going WOT makes the car very loud. This TBE is very quiet at all speeds. I drove to Vegas and back at speeds of 90-95 mph and the exhaust was very quiet. I could not believe how comfortable the trip was. The only annoying thing was the lack of cruise control.

what about the MAGNAFLOW SS cat back? Anyone have this for sale? there is no price listed on the website and the links are all messed up. I'm really interested in this catback because of the gains it got on the Ti system. The only difference between that is that this one is SS and has a more muffled sound from what I've been told. The part # is 16659.

I do not believe Magnaflow has released the SS system. They developed it but never seemed to market it.

We recently ran a very popular group buy on our 3"turbo backs. It is a SS system and you have the option to use the Magnaflow muffler. IMO it is the best sounding muffler on the EVO.
