Boost - 1psi = XX HP

I need to settle a debate.

Can 1psi more of boost = 10 HP? or 10 WHP??

That is to say, if you put an MBC on the car, set to 21 psi (which is arguably 5 psi over stock at WOT in 5th gear) would you be adding 50 HP? 50 WHP?

For the record, I find this hard to believe but I would like some clarification.

Any rough idea of how much each PSI adds in terms of power?

Thanks

I dont think there is a simple formula for this but I could be wrong. I think it has more to do with airflow. For example 1 PSI more on a stock turbo doesnt flow as much as say 1 PSI on a gt35r. So the gains would not be the same even though they both increased by one PSI.

tapers? so you loose boost even though your still in high rpm's? maybe turbos arent better than superchargers. oh yeah, hes gotta be right the amount or air matters more than the preasure.

Ok. we are asuming he is talking about stock. I really dont see how you guys say stock boost is around 19psi. I just put in a new autometer gauge and my boost only reads 10psi in higher gears and 9psi in lowergears. But it never tappers. I installed it exactly how it is in the how to section. (fuel presure reg). I even went to the dealership and asked the mechanic why it dont go past 11psi on my boost gauge. I told him that everybody claims that stock boost is around 18-19psi. And he said noway. That 12psi is already too much for stock. They said the only thing they can do is a leak test. But i just let it go.

dbdude-your boost gauge is not reading correctly or is installed incorrectly.

I figured that there might not be a straight up one-size-fits-all equation for this.

any idea on the stock evo turbo? anyone with experience (tuners) that have some idea of boost levels v. power?

there are a few locals telling me that 1psi = 10 hp and i dont buy it

I'm pretty sure 1 PSI is like 17HP or whatever, not at the wheels.

There is something wrong. Either the gauge or you have a big leak.

i heard 1psi - 10hp
but doesnt that depend on the size of the turbo?

someone posted a car image with HUGE(HUGE) twin turbo, 3psi 1100 whp (12 lbs 2500+hp)
but yea on the stock evo turbo i heard 10hp per psi
