My question is, do any of you also have that feeling? In past cars I'd definitely feel the wheels biting the ground when taking the on-ramp fast. Could it be that this turn, at that speed, is simply too slow for the Evo and I'd have to push it really hard to get the kind of feedback I'm expecting from the road? The car is riding on H&R sports but even before they were installed I had the same experience with stocks.

Take a driving school (racing Event) class and see if that helps..

COuld be understeer as stock it has a lot. Look into coilovers and sway bars. More importantly just get use to driving AWD!

Check your tire pressure first, then continue troubleshooting

Stiff suspension + warm ADVANS = FEEDBACK. I think maybe your butt was numb from the rough ride.

if the on ramp was a downgrade, ie you were above the highway and the on ramp spiralled downward on to the highway, it was because the suspension dynamics are changed. The descent takes load off the suspension and wheels making it feel floaty. plus on ramps aren't made of the grippiest material. i have a friend who can drift his gfs stock stick with rear lsd RX-8 around an entire on ramp with ease because the on ramp takes so much load off the rear suspension. it is pretty amazing to see because he can;t get it sideways on flat ground.

I think I know exactly what you are talking about, It is really hard to explain what it feels like...I own an MR and even when I had the stock tires and stock suspension the car seemed to feel weird in the middle of a turn when you hit bumps...I am assuming this is a product of all wheel drive but I also think that one of the weaker links on the EVO is the bushing set they come with stock. I have heard from other autocrossers that the bushings allow for too much movement - It almost feels like the car has grip, then a moment later its gone, then it comes back> but not in a way that feels natural...I just recently changed to Advan A032-R tires which are obviously much stickier than stock but the problem is still there. I do not know how to properly explain what the car feels like but I just know that it does not feel natural. - Again only in turns that have a certain type of bump.

Go drive around in a 10 year old ford explorer for a few days. Try taking some corners w/ that. Then get back in the EVO after a couple days. Repeat as neccessary

Your tires SHOULD squeel before you spin out, at least thats how it is with all the cars i've driven. If they're not squeeling then you're probably just not used to it.

Double check the alignment, some shops only have specs for lancers, not Evos (cough..LesSchwab..cough) Sounds like ur experiencing under steer, a quick easy fix is a bigger rear sway bar.

By the way....congrats on getting the car!!

The car has unique handling dynamics it take a while to get used to. It just sounds like you are getting familiar with it. I recommend a HPDE session on track. It will pay dividends in driving your evo. Check out nasaproracing.com
if this is what he did, than you have called it. he's probably experiencing lift because as he gets to the edge he lets off. Common mistake if you've never had an instructed session or anything. next time apply some throttle in the turn.
