new evo buyers beware
I was driving down interstate 10 and guess what I saw. two truck haulers headed out to the LA area carrying a bunch of mitsubishi and I saw one evo. It looks like all the cars had water lines around the cars. I remember watching the news that a lot of the cars from the texas and louisiana floods are heading out to get sold. all the cars on the haulers all have flood water marks. Just heads up

It has begun... i was just talking with a friend about all the water damaged cars from Louisiana and Texas and how i had a feeling they would be trying to sell them in other states to unsuspecting customers. Add that to the list of why it would be really hard for me to rationalize buying a used car. To have the cars on the truck with water lines still on them... they are basically advertising that they are potentially committing fraud.

I wouldnt doubt it, my dad recently sold his PT Loser that he bought "certified used" from a pretty big Chrysler dealership, and I ran a carfax on it when he put it up on ebay and found out it was a rental car for the first 2 years of its life. Way to go dealerships

Hey news flash wise guy. You do not have to disclose who the previous owner of the car was, in this case it was a rental company. There is no fraud involved there, unless they did not tell you that the warranty is automatically reduced to the standard 3/36. Water damage on the other hand is not kosher.

Whoa, everyone cool your jets!
SavageEvo is simply just trying to warn some of you guys that may be looking into Evo IXs that there may be some shady practices taking place, and to keep your heads up. There's no need to flame the guy.
And SavageEvo, ODUB NEVER disrespected you in any way. Calling him an "idiot" for no reason was totally uncalled for.
Anyway, thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to tell some of my friends that were considering Evo IXs.

yea you should check CarFax ALWAYS before you buy anything used.. I almost bought a 04 EVO last week from a dealership, until I ran CarFax and found it had been LEMON LAW'd. And they wanted $28,900 for it with 11k miles.. rediculous.

I was down there shooting the damage. Believe you me, you wouldn't want to get your hands on a "cleaned up" car from down there...they estimate about 250,000 cars were lost. Yep, a quarter of a MILLION cars. The Evo could have been someone's car for all we know. If you're buying a used car and the price is just too good to be true (and there's mud under the seats!), run.
