Sunroof on EVO not aerodynamic???

I was at the dealership the other day and they were selling a fully loaded Evo for 30,000 not including the mark up. It was almost fully loaded actually except missing the sunroof. The employees began to also tell me that the sunroof messes up the cars aerodynamics and is not worth, personally I think its nicer without a sunroof..... Im just curious if what they were telling me is true.... Let me know what you gusy thinks....

If you have the roof closed, the aero hit on the car is neligable. The only thing that sticks up is the rubber seals, which is less than 1/16th of an inch. The antenna has a higher effect on the aero of the car.

Now if you have it open, that's a different story.

honestly, i dont think a sunroof would have that much of an effect on the aerodynamics of a street car. Were not talking about a F1 car here. Sunroof dosent litte more than somewhat reduce chassis rigidity, and give you a nice view of the stars at night

i say if anything the effects would more tend to simply change the center of gravity since it's that much more weight that high up.so maybe the handleing not aero

Crzylizard - "To Live, is to Die"... that song rock... almost as good as Orion. But then, there are no lyrics to Orion.

i think a roof prolly weighs the same if not more than the sunroof so won't matter too much no matter what lol

Did you guys notice that the evo with sunroof has different "oh ****" handles than the one without. Also, the sunroof model does not have the sunglasses case, the one without does. My friend has a blue evo/no sunroof, mine is red/wsnrf. Wierd huh???? The handles on his flap down kind of. I like the sunroof model more. Always nice to let the roof be open while you just cruise!!!

Did anyone notice the sunroof's wind deflector material??
I'ts a finished stainless steel if I'm not mistaken.

Lots nicer than the cheezy plastic in most cars, even the Lexus!!

No, the sunroof actually weighs more. Ballpark of 50+lbs I believe; don't feel like looking up the exact weight difference .

...Actually The LS 400 and 430 that both my parents now drive have stainless steel wind deflectors. Even in the lower model Lexus' they have stainless steel deflectors.

Its a moon roof (meaning it slides inside the roof).
