I wondered what happened. Edited top gear was allright, but I had seen most of those episodes last year in their full unedited for America glory. It was the inbetween stuff I missed. It was the only program on Discovery I watched with regularity.

Woo Hoo!! That is good news.
I would rather they show them in their natural form, like BBC does with Monty Python. they show the original 40 minute Python episodes, however, that leads to akward show start times (i.e. 9:20 ).
