mine weight 3314lbs if i remember correctly..w. me in it..car is loaded w. sunroof and stuff..

- 03 GSR with sunroof and wing
- 1/8 tank of gas
- race seats with harness
- no rear seat
- no spare
- no jack
- lighweight wheels with hoosiers
- 2 piece rotors front
- roll bar

I have since installed a mini battery (20lbs off)

 

I like that front bumper but share your info on haow you saved this much wieght. The firt thing I did was take out the spare and tools which saved me about 35 lbs. This almost makes up for my sunroof weight.

 

im sorry to sound rude, but i think he's bs'ing, i mean come on, he's got the sunroof, a bodykit, and all his seats, the only way i see this as possible is if he stripped the entire car of everything but the engine and intercooler, ridding the a/c, radio, etc but i dont think he did that

 

oh and a side note, the aluminum hood and trunk are very light weight and switching it out with carbon fiber would not shed much weight at all if any. there is a misconception about carbon fiber body pannels thinking that its always lighter than aluminum. this is not true, only dry carbon fiber is lighter than aluminum, however dry carbon fiber has no shine to it and usually makes the car look hideous, most of the carbon fiber hoods (like 99%) ive seen on evos as well as trunks seem to be the glossy carbon fiber which really doesnt save much weight at all, its more of a look thing

 

1st off, what's the baseline weight? let's say a SSL equipped VIII GSR?

Then you guys can start making assumptions about how much weight was saved.

I was under the impression stock weight for an VIII GSR was closer to 32XXlbs

 

If its not BS my guess is that his before and after weights are probably from different scales. Scales can vary a lot.

 

In 03 the EVO and STi weighed exactly the Same, 3260 pounds. I think it was in sport compact car. Since then I beleive STi has lost 20 lbs, and EVO gained 20, something with the diff, --->tarmac, gravel, snow. This is the GSR weight.

3340 lbs, Evo VIII with SSL, full tank less 15 miles or so. This is without driver, scale is in 20 lb increments, fully certified.

 

has anyone with an 05 RS got their exact weight I'm very interested to see ho much it really is? I ca feel a difference even when driving my car and my friend gsr?

 

I've seen it about 10 different places that the stock 05 RS is 3197. Never weighed mine in stock form. Im at under 3000 now that i got the pass airbag out and stipped some stuff under the dash and inside the doors. The evo CAN be lighter than an S2000. It won't be pretty or quiet inside, but i get kinda annoyed hearing evo owners complain about cutting weight and losing there "comfort" stuff. IT"S AN EVO NOT A BENTLEY!!

 

i took off my wheels, brakes, clutch, seats, door panels, interrior, hood and trunk, and managed to get down to 2400lbs BEAT THAT! lol

 

PS jason (slickevo18) has alot of pointless **** in the evo u wouldnt think about removed or swapped with somthing lighter that was custom or aftermarket. one of these days i will make him pullin truck stop and see what thing reads...

 

humm on the scale around my house stock with 3/4 gas weight in at 3340

now with almost nothing in car at all. i went back and was at 3100. note from then i also did more.
tbe whcih should save 40lb and also seat thats 40lb also sub. next is the hole sound system, sunroof, ac, front and back bumper beam. so i should look to get car down to hope 2800 or less. trying to get to 2500 if think i can humm. need more help tips lol. i think i did every thing. o also did more fom the 3100. maybe im down to about i say 2940 at were i em now.
