Well that took 2 weeks...
For Mitsu service to disappoint. Luckily it wasn't anything major, but I was diagnosed last Monday as having a bad egr valve gasket (had been throwing a cel and couldn't find any loose hoses, so that made sense). I ended up having to pickup my car from a different dealer than the one I dropped it off at, which means someone took it for a joy ride. The dealerships are nearby, but they were in the car long enough to bother changing the radio station, and when I picked it up, it was still more warm than if they had just dropped it off - and no telling how much earlier in the day that was. So that started to **** me off, but the service center seemed fairly well organized, and there were other evo's there, so I figured maybe they atleast have a clue.
Fast forward 1 week, I call to see if my gasket has come in yet and they tell me to call back tomorrow (which is today now). So, I call today and they tell me "oh, the service tech just ordered it yesterday, it won't be here until next week"
To make matters chap my a$$ more, I'm scheduled to be dyno'd on saturday, and would rather not have that done with an egr code.
Does anyone know if a P0402 egr flow code will throw the computer into "safe mode" or if i'll be okay to get dyno'd? Also, is there any other place to get that freakin gasket than to wait for the slow-mobile parts truck to get here next tuesday? Thanks guys, needed to vent!

find a friend with an obdii scanner and have them clear the code for you in the meantime. Or autozone will usually do it for free... I don't think it's been proven either way as to if those codes throw the car into safe mode, but who knows...

I agree, I usually do keep track of the mileage when I drop my cars off anywhere, figures I would forget this time!
I do have a scanner which I've been using to reset the code, I guess that's what I'll do for the dyno....if my car's been running in safe mode, then I can't wait to see how she feels at full speed!

Does anyone know if resetting an error code clears out the whole ecu and it then has to "re-learn" all of the little things, or if it only affects that code and the rest of the ecu data isn't wiped clean?

EGR stuff is only for emission. Clear the code and you should be all good. It may come back though.
Clearing code have nothing to do with the ECU relearning things unless you remove the battery or ground. Once power is restore this will cause the ECU or the other modules to power-up and use what they previously store or what's in default (flash, eeprom) and then relearn.
