Oh, damn, I was about to be really impressed with the 275/265. 260 is quite high for even an 05, but it's still very interesting to see a 15whp increase with the IX over that one 05.

Ain't that the truth.

I can't say anything but great things in every time I've dealt with Tym, Matt and Eric. Very professional and very different philosophy from most other parts slinging tuning outfits out there.

So what are these staged upgrades?

Don't forget that the 9's have a redesigned turbocharger and also has the variable intake cam timing that the previous years do not have.

260whp on a bone stock evo8??? thats crazy high, even for a dyno jet. they arent losing only 16hp from the factory. I think a 2005 evo should dyno between 230 and 245 bone stock, if its rated at 276 hp. but yea if it makes 15 whp more then thats impressive. I wanna see some stock 1/4 times

Well we are planning on taking the car to the NOPI finals this weekend at Norwalk but I can't promise that it will still be 100% bone stock. I hope it is so that we can get a good number out of it and know where we started from down the road after several mods have been done to it.

Perhaps do your work on the ECU flash this week while getting dyno results and then flash it back to stock for the weekend? That would require that you hold off on the exhaust, boost, and other bits, but it would probably be worth the wait, since the weekend is upon us...

I assume it will be nice and cool in Norwalk this weekend, so you could get some very good baseline numbers at the track. If it can trap 107-108 in stock form on pump gas (94 up there?), then the dyno figures would be validated.

275/265 for the evo9? That sounds way too much to the wheels. Only rated at what....281/286 crank. Just don't sound right.

Everyone should look at the graph a little closer. The other 2 pulls clearly show a peak number of 270. There was a spike on the 3rd pull and that's where the extra 5 hp is coming from. If the smoothing was on, this wouldn't even be an issue. I guess when we're talking baseline numbers, 5 hp is significant so I think its a little more fair to call the baseline 270 which makes it more realistic.

yeah, that only equals like a 2-3% drivetrain loss... although the actual number isn't as important as how it compares to other cars (or states of tune) on the same dyno (not same brand, but EXACT same dyno)

If it baselines at 275, then you'd expect well over 300 on the same dyno from very minor mods - like a TBE even untuned. Like mentioned above, it will be interesting to see how they (IXs) do at the track, assuming anyone tracks a stock one...

Also, just because Mitsu says the flywheel hp is a certain number doesn't mean its necessarily true. Remember when the SRT-4 came out? Almost every stock car was putting down more hp on a chasis dyno then what Dodge claimed at the flywheel.

How does a stock 2005 Evo 8 dyno around 230-250WHP and an evo 9 dyno's 20-40 whp more? That doesn't make sense to me.. I know nothing about dyno's though so could someone clarify whats going on here? Thanks!

Gotta think in relative terms - don't get to bent out of shape with the 270whp. Need to see more graphs - that's all

they said above that their 05 VIII dynoed 260 on that dyno - it's all relative. Comparing dyno #s from all around the country is just not possible. Numbers at the track are what tell you what your true power is. In other words don't see this 275whp from their dyno and say "hey, I have tons of mods and I barely dynoed 275???" it's just not apples to apples...
