I'm willing to bet that it's the crank angle sensor.

mechaic said it had to be the crank sensor...we changed it and ta-da....it started!

Defective starter, maybe?

You also say it kept sputtering, and would keep stalling. It could also be a head gasket. With a blown head gasket, you'll lose compression, obviously, and because of not enough pressure in the motor, it could cause stalling.

Well it's at the dealer now, just was called by the advisor guy.. Thery're going to see what's going on.

I doubt it's a head gasket- I mean how could that happen if I never over rev and baby the car? Like I said I'm running low boost becaseu of gas prices.... Very wierd. lol

Scott, this may help identify what the problem was. That code we found with the reader wasn't for your exhaust, it was this: P0402, EGR Excessive Flow Detected.

I have no idea what that is...

Do you have a turbo timer? I've heard some owners with timers had problems with them. Not sure if it's Greddy or another brand. If you have one, disconnect it and see if it's starts.

UPDATE:

The service tech called and told me the ECU is fried!!!!! WTFFFFFFF!!!!!! He asked me if I had done a reflash or anything and I told him I haden't (whcih is true), so they are covering it under warranty, but WTF.

How on earth did this happen?

wow, now that would be truly amazing. Did you check your MAF connector? If that comes loose (doesn't even have to come off all the way), your car will also die.

You got soo lucky, the first time my car stalled I had a vaccum hose blow off. Then it stalled again and what happened was the oil filter blew off and I got piston clapping. Now its been in the shop for 9 months and between the shop and warrenty company (After market bout a used second gen eclipse) I will find out today if it will even be fixed or not....

You got lucky it was covered!
