You're right, there's MUCH more to this story.... This may be a first for this forum, and maybe even a first for the evo community.
As I posted above- the ECU was fried. Well after plenty of calls back and forth between the service advisor and the service manager AND mitsubishi corporate, they have called in Mitsubishi Engineering to take a look at this issue. Apparently, they've never had an EVO ecu fry like this before.
Basically they are able to communicate with the car, and are getting a response from everyhting except the injectors. They are not getting any injector pulse. Which explains why the car wouldn't start.
I spoke with the services manager and he said that my modifications (tbe exhaust, dropin filter) should have NOTHING to do with this ecu failure. But as of now they can't find any wiring issues that would have caused this. So a resident evo "specialist" is supposed to go over the car before the new ecu is installed and is supposed to be the one who communicates with Mitsu Engineering, and then they'll decide how to procede.
Best case scenario is that the ecu gets in tonight and they are able to install it tomorrow with no issues, and then I get my car back tomorrow.
Until then, I was able to get a rental (day-to -day) through mitsu corp and trust me it was a huge pain in the *** to get them to cover a rental. They made me feel like **** at the dealer for getting a rental. They weren't happy at all.
The saga continues...

No update today- the dealer wouldn't return my call. Time to call corporate again tomorrow if they don't give me an update.
This stealership is really taking a lot out of me

Update: They had to order another part. Aparently there's more to it than just the ECU. It's all covered under warranty, but I won't get my car back until middle of next week

FINALLY got the car back tonight!!!! Oh god it's so nice to have it back.
They replaced the fuel pump/assembly and the entire ECU (PCM) and now she runs again lol. There was a short somewhere and it fried both. From what I have learned about the ECU- it had to come from there. ????
Regardless it was all under waranty and she's back home

I hate dealing with the dealers. My rotors are shot and they are saying that they are not covered. I told them, "only 10k miles and you can't do anything". I was so pissed man. I feel your pain..... I'm going to fight it....

Yes, it's truly bizaar... They still never told me what exactly failed- but I think that's because they don't know exactly.
It's hard to say where the short was and how exaclty it got back to the ECU.
I think since they couldn't put a finger on what caused it- they had no evidence for it NOT to be a waranty claim. But I guess it all depends on which dealer you are dealing with, and the mood of the service manager.

Have had the car back two weeks and all seems well.
I'm still scratching my head on this one. Mitsubishi Engineering is probably going over the fried PCM with a fine toothed comb to find how it failed.

I think they were looking for every way out of this one.
At first there was speculation on whether they'd cover it because I had an OBD-II reader in the car- and that somehow I hooked it up wrong and it was the cause of the ecu failing.... lol But I think they knew I'd fight them on that one and win.
After a TON of phonecalls and a few conversations with corporate- they knew I wasn't messing around and they had others looking over their shoulders to make sure this was dealt with appropriately.
