Exhaust Gas/Temp Ruining Paint
Bought an '05 white evo bout a month ago and only got 1600 miles on it. Already I started to notice that burnt discoloration on the paint under the exhaust tip. The stock is still exhaust so there is still warranty on the paint but i have a txs cat back sitting here waiting to be put on and once that goes on the paint problem is on me. I might expect it quite a bit later on down the line but not at 1600 miles. My question is has anyone else noticed this problem happening so soon? Anything can really do about it or just live with it?

You could get a bumper shield for your exhaust -- Lancershop used to have one in that was much cheaper than this one: (this is in carbon fiber)

But this would help your problem.

i would of it rather it come not painted lol
I also have an 05 yellow evo i just purchased 2 months ago and i am starting to see the same thing. I just ordered a invidia n1 catback and im not sure if i should take it to the dealer before installing it. Honestly 90% of the dealers suck so as i see it is i rather wait a bit and paint the car then take it back to them and 2 months later same crap happens. Their paint is just cheap eventhough it's a 30k + car ........................... U might want to just buy a heat shield or even the carbon fiber one that they sale and it will cover that

I use a C/F bumper shield and still have the issue. I just have to put some elbow grease into cleaning it all off from time to time. Try to stay ahead of it though so that it doesn't permanently screw up the paint.

thanks for all the responses. I guess it's definitely not just my case then. Options I'm looking at is I was going to take it to the dealer to get the gauges installed I'll probably just see if they can repaint it and then I'll start anew with the TXS cat back. and if it consist just look into the bumper shield which I was figuring I'd probably have to do anyways.
Any recommendations on stuff that will help clean it off if I try to do it myself?
