I know the 2DIN option on the Evo7 was a dealer installed option, has anyone confirmed whether or not this is an available dealer option on the US Evo? I'm sure there are others here planning to rearrange the dash for gauge use too, so somebody's gotta know! I saw some pictures in another thread of some guy moving his headunit into that small cubby at the bottom (this was on a Lancer, but the interiors are pretty much identical). That would work as well but I personally would prefer having 2DINs on top of each other and moving AC controls to the very bottom.

Also, I'm just curious but is there any way to import the Evo7 climate controls and have them work on our USDM Evo? Or are there electronics involved with that that aren't available on our version? Having climate controls are just so much nicer than the junky manuals we have.. not really a crucial thing I guess but just something nice to have. any ideas?

 

I've been chatting back and forth with someone who had a kit for the VII.. He doesn't have it any longer to verify if the connectors are the same.. But its a JDM Part, and if the wiring is identical, its entirely likely it would work.. Though this person is the only one I've seen who even had a picture of the kit, let alone knew what it was. What concerns me is that its for the RS version of the car, which probably doesnt have A/C and a much simpler climate control system.

 

I wanna know regarding this as well. I am planning to use a Double-Din kit with the Evo8 if the Evo7 one works in conjunction with that.

 

well, wouldnt the optional cd-changer require 2 dins above and below each other?? Unless its a modular add on that goes in the cubbyhole slot.. anybody seen the optional cd changer or at least know where it goes, and if it's a standalone unit or an addition to the facory HU?

 

Does anyone know where I can get th kit for the evo?? and for how much??
