good point
the roof rack cannot be supported by the mr's roof but by the door pillars.

In the middle back seat. Two boards fit base to base on one side and one board on the other side. Did it 2 seasons in a row over here.

Once I'm done using my rack, I take it off promptly because it doesn't look too appealing on the Evo. But anyways, here's a pic during downhill race season (Yakima Rack)...

how is the rack as far as mounting on the roof. what i mean to say is there any obsessive paint markings or anything like that on the mounting points?

also how much did you pay for the rack?

thanks for any help you can offer

No markings on the roof since the rack footings are rubber. I think Thule dealers only sell at MSRP unless they have 20% sales going on. Check www.rei.com for any sales. Also, check out www.thule.com and look up the car Mitsu Lancer4DR. Note, MR's do not have OEM roof rack brackets, so the Thule kit won't fit on a MR.

so MR's cannot have any kind of roof rack?

Thule's kit for the Lancer4Dr is designed to fit on the OEM roofrack mounts under the rubber raingutters on the GSR's. The aluminum roof evo's do not have these roofrack mounts. I think Yakima racks for the Lancer do not require use of the OEM roofrack mounts, so you "might" be able to use a Yakima rack on a MR.

Yes, you could use the Yakima rack on a MR. They just basically hook underneath the top sill of the door. No marks whatsoever with my Yakima either.
