My 8 has 212 miles on it and was sold as a new car. I got my for $1k under invoice.

I wouldn't be too concerned with 40 miles. Although anything under MSRP should be respected.

Mine had 19 miles on it and the guy who let me test drove it knew to tell me not to take it over 4500-5k. But I think its disrespectful to push a car on a test drive for the engines case atleast, But its ok to dart it back and forth and see how it handles.

well, i got mine for cost, but my father was the salesman too. QUICK STORY : i went to the dealership and was drooling over a 05 EVO RS just like i did 1000 times before and finally the owner of the dealership comes up to me and says "You really like that thing dont you" i replied "absofreekinlootly" so he, my dad, and I sat down to with the invoice talk some business. later that day i realized i signed a paper that i was on the hook for $26645 for a brand new EVO RS. so, if they really want to sell it, ya you can talk them down.

I'll bet that you can get them below invoice on the car, maybe as much as $500 below. I believe that Mitsu has started to support the Evo IX with customer cash, though it is not very well publicized. There was another thread on this board started by someone with the handle "RiversideMitsu" about whether or not people would be interested in $500 OVER invoice. That was his initial bid, and it is worth reading the thread because he works at the dealership and alludes to a rebate being available on the car.

If there is a rebate applicable to the Evo IX, then the transaction prices are going to come down in a hurry. That's not exactly a good sign for a manufacturer just a month or two after the launch of the new car.

I think that the rebate is $1000 cash back, and from what I can tell, it is not restricted to base Lancers (i.e., it can be used on Evos).

40 miles isnt ****. Even if it was driven aggressively odds are it wasn't abused. Newer cars no longer require a pansy *** break in period. I wouldn't even think twice about 40 miles.

Price should be invoice plus $200 right now. In a few months I wouldn't pay over invoice.
