"Service Engine Soon" on at 19000miles

My "Service Engine Soon" light came on today as i was driving home today... i am at 19000miles...the car is stock... it runs smooth... what could be the cause of this? i am making an appointment to have it check out... did this happen to anyone also?

If you do not want to wait for an appointment just go to autozone and get it checked for free.

Check your gas cap first to make sure it's on tight. The rule of thumb is five to six clicks. It's a common source of check engine lights. Tightening the cap won't make the light go away instantly but if the code isn't triggered again after so many restarts it will.

or you could just unplug your neg batt terminal for a little bit and see if it comes back when you start the car again.

Take it to your dealer, and have your ECU reflashed with the latest software. It is covered under warranty.

Is it SES or CEL? Check the manual, cuz they mean different things (hence the two different lights).

i had a service engine light (300 code) on since i bought my car. i just installed new spark plugs (mine went bad at 12k miles) and started using shell gasoline...never had it since. i was using racetrack crap gas for some reason...but the shell stuff really made my car run better. i used to get 240 miles out of a tank, now i get around 300. hope that helps
