just removed mine, and I have to say I think it looks pretty trick. this has gotten me wanting to do a little clean-up in the engine bay now...has anyone else got the rust around the bolts on the heat shield and manifold? is there anything you can do about it - paint them or something?

Channels water so it drains better - less corrosion in rain
Hood is shaped in such a way that air flows over the top creating negative pressure over the vents which slightly help draw air from the bottom and front.
May also serve to draw heat away from the painted surfaces on the hood. Prolonged heat decreases the durability of finishes.
Bottom line: Other than water drainage and looks, doesnt really serve any real purpose. If you have a nice tubular to view than show it off, just resecure the screws and clips to keep the other stuff from flapping in the wind.
