Hood Vent Cover Removal

I'm too lazy to walk out to my car...anyone now how easy/difficult it is to remove the stock hood vent cover, I imagine it can't be too bad... I need to repaint it or just leave it out. Thx!

I see you said just leave it out - do any of you guys do this? I've seen some pics online before where you could see through to the engine and it looked pretty cool. Just wondering if there is any problem with riding without it.

I'm almost certain rain gets down there with it on or off. When i purchased my 05 w/ 4 miles on it a little while ago, the turbo/exhaust manifold is kinda rusted.

so it shouldnt be a hazzard to run with it off?...cause if you havea an aftermarket intake the air filter is exposed and if water comes in and isnt channeled straight down would it get in the intake?

you don't want to run it without the cover while it's raining, you don't want water getting on the manifold and cracking it due to rapid heating and cooling...

If you'll notice most people who've taken them off all live in NM, and AZ, they dont' get rain for extended peroid of time and it's super hot there...but they always said, if they knew it was going to rain, they would put it back on.

Also the vent cover is designed to vent the hot air while the car's moving...so yeah, if you're ideling the car with the cover it's running hotter than without the vent, but imo, while the car is moving, it might be negligable difference with or without the vent, the hot air is getting pushed out either way and not necessary any faster...

I live in the rainy northwest and I take mine off from spring to late fall and have had no problems whatsoever. I've had the Evo and been doing this for 2 years now. It takes less than a minute to take the vent off and less than that to put back on.
