Probally 05's because they are stronger out of the box that most of the others, 03's are next in my book because I have my HIDs 04's, sorry but they don't got anything at all.

The fastest evo VIII are all 03-04s though are they not? lol not that fixing all the problems isnt good.. the 05s are the superior track car, but the intercooler sprayer is right there for a sleeper alcohol kit on the 03-04s.. not to mention the HIDs.

You can run an alchy kit through that? I'm pretty sure there are threads about this somewhere right?

To all you guys saying 05 (which I'm not saying is wrong): Now the next question is, is it worth paying the extra $ just for the 05? I mean, there is probably at least a $3000-4000 difference in price between the two.

05s are much stronger. MRs in general because of a different transmission. 05's come with a 10.5 hotside, acd, lsd. things like that. softer clutch!
good stuff!

Out of the box, 05...no doubt. But when it comes down to it, the 10.5 hotside and aggressive tune of the 05s really don't matter that much because a lot of people opt to get a tune and some type of upgrade whether it be 10.5 hotside or a GT series turbo anyway. So in my eyes once modified, they're all about the same.

I've driven a lot of stock ones, broken in and not. My '05 feels stronger then all the previous years. But the one '06 MR I drove felt a touch better. I just don't know what the impact MIVEC will have on the aftermarket. If you don't care for MIVEC, definitely get an '05.
