i am wondering if the spoiler on the evolution will fit on the oz lancer where the stock spoiler sits? and if so, i'd like to know where i can get one reasonably priced!

I'm also 30+ (32) and have tried the finger technique to cover up the rear wing on a RSX Type-R. I just laughed when I heard that.
But in the case of the Evolution, I think the wing should stay. It looks great! It gives the car character. It wouldn't be an Evolution without it.
Someone at work just purchased a silver/blue Lancer Evolution and it looks beautiful. The car was stunning.

I am planning removing mine b/c it is a cop magnet, same as if you get the car in yellow. My Evo will be black with no spoiler, with Evo VII tail lights.
I'm planning on getting a replacement trunk lid, so when I sell the car, or bring it to the track, I can put the wing back on. I agree that having holes in your brand new 30K car's trunk is not an option.
My $.02

There are pictures posted earlier in this thread of a white car without the spoiler. It looks way better WITHOUT the wing. And yes, it is a huge cop magnet for sure. It adds weight, drag, and cost. Just say NO to the big spoiler...

Its the owner's money. If you don't like it fine, don't criticize him. We are all grown men and can make our own decisions. Thank YOU

Once again guys, I had my trunk lid welded and refinished, then painted. The paint dosnt match 100% but it works for me. To make it match better they would have to feather the quater panels,,, I said naaa to that one.
Total cost was $335, as opposed to $900+ for a new trunk lid with paint. I love the looks of the car, its not a magnet at all, unless people in the know well they know what it is. Going with a new trunk lid isnt a bad idea while keeping the evo wing and trunk lid in place. Just store it in a safe location. A carbon fiber trunk might be cheaper, but I would have to paint it white, because Im all about the NO RICE FACTOR!!!!!!!!!!
All in all im very happy with the looks of the car.
Here is another picture of the car before the holes were filled, but you get an idea of what it will looks like without the wing. I just need to go out and take some nice pictures sometime, just havnt done so.
Thanks for all you lovers out there,,,thanks!!!! and the haters,, well I dont have any ill feelings,, I was young once too. But in my day it was Craggar wheels, air shocks, and big fat tires, and a big V-8.

Please post the pictures of your welded/re-painted deck lid when you get the chance. Take some close ups if you can. I assume they painted the inside of the deck lid as well? Looks great!

The car looks better without the wing. I have been contemplating removing mine. It does little or nothing until you are doing quite significant speeds anyway.
Then again, I too am an old fart.
