Thank God you both are ok. I also notice the teh Advans are not as grip in the cold. The other day I floored my car while moving about 10mph to get out of the way (people cant drive) and the tires let loose a little. This happened twice to me in weather below 40, so be careful out there. Snow tire time for me Dunlop snow sport M3's..

Happened in King of Prussia. At Near the intersection of rt 320 (Swedeland Rd.) and rt. 23 (River Road) If you know where that is.

Obviously, you were, admittidly going too fast, but I'd be willing to bet that if you had good all seasons on the car, you'd probably have not lost it. The advans are hideous in the cold weather unless you are on a track and get to heat them up. On the stree in the winter, they are lawsuit dangerous. When I first got my evo, I tested out the car in the cold (DRY) pavement and I could tell the car was all over the place. At least now you know to get better tires for the cold weather. I think this is really a good opportunity to stress to everyone the importance of getting a better all season or winter tire if you are driving the car during the winter. It doesnt have to be snowy or icey to lose it with these tires.

Point is though, you came away alive and the car can be replaced.

Secondly, wow, where is the flaming? I'm utterly impressed by the maturity currently being exhibited by everyone. Let's not let Warralton find out about this thread.
Yeah, thanks to everybody for the non-flaming, it really is nice to have you guys to talk to.

If anybody knows of a 05 Evo 8 or RS for sale, let me know. I will be trying to get back on the horse as soon as possible. I think I'm going to be keeping this one stock and waiting to go to Watkins Glenn next Spring for my first Perf. Driving School before trying to push it on the road again. I just hope that the poor girl will ever want to go for a ride in it again.

It happened to me last Dec. I was going too fast, it was very cold outside, lost control and hit a tree. But the car was repaired, and I live to drive another day. I learned my lesson as well. I was just a stupid 29year old kid.

Those OEM tires arn't the best in below freezing temps.

Ok - you guys have talked me into snows for the winter even though I hadn't planned on running to car in the snow - I at least want to run it when the roads are dry. It will be cold and it seems that cold and stock tires are a no-no.

I was up at college at AC in meadville before I transferred and it would get so cold and snowy up there. Advans do not like now at all.

UPDATE: Some of you may know this. the Yellow EVO has been re-incarnated in the form of a 05 GG MR. I'll post pics of both the wreck and the new body for my baby's spirit. Stay tuned.

I'm glad that you and your friend made it out okay! It's amazing how many of us have felt that the Evo with its AWD make us invincible out there. I've fallen victim to that false sense of security as well.
