the only thing i have to worry about is volcanic ash eating my paint Hawai'i is behind the times so there's not one brushless carwash here.

Straight scoop....
If you live in a state were you can accumulate dust, salt etc.....on the side of your car take it to a touchless car wash before you hand wash. I don't care how careful you are your going to swirl your paint if you don't. You need to minimize the damage because you can't get every microscopic piece of dirt off. Always rinse your sponge after each section of the car so the grit falls to the bottom of the bucket. Always wash from the top down so you are not dragging dirt from the bottom of the car back up when you are washing....I am detailer and have many more tips...You are still going to need to polish a couple of times a year to remove the fine scratches.

Mine has been through a car wash at least every other week for the last two years with no problems. The wing is on there pretty good anyhow. The only thing I get kind of picky about is the dryers at the end. I do not go through car washes that have the "air bag arms" (I'm not sure what they really are but they actually touch the paint the whole length of the car ... ouch). I like the kind with the air blowers at the end.

I use the Mothers Instant Detailer about once a week and then wash with a sprayer about once a month on the warmest day I can find in the winter. Couple of times a year full wax. Keeps it looking real good.
Glad I don't have a black one though, the red is hard enough to keep clean.

just a belly rinse and soap spray and rinse cause I just use them to rinse the salt off and the only way to get the belly rinse comes with the wax that gets sprayed over the dirt the wash didnt knock off
I would pay extra for it too

I do, but then again....I don't really care about swirls and whatnot.
The paintjob has been garbage from day one. I'll wear it out eventually, then it'll be time to get it in a new color. To me, it's almost like getting a new car.
As to swirls, you'll get them no matter what you do with the paintjob that's on this car and they'll show up more depending on what color you have. You'll also get stains if you let anything sit on there for any sort of time. Take a trip somewhere, get some bugjuice on it, it'll be there the next day even after you wash it. Really, the paintjob is crap is all I'm saying.
Unless you're showing the car, 99.99% of the population wouldn't notice swirls anyways.
