Your method of modding...

just wondering what is the method of your modding...

1. all parts from the same company (all HKS, all Blitz...etc)
2. the parts w/ the most gains even though from different companies (HKS exhaust w/ like RMR intake...etc)

what are some of your reasons? compatibility? "uniformity?"

Here is how I'm going to approach modding my EVO. First put about 5,000 miles on the car before I changing anything. Second, add a complete 2.5" exhaust including downpipe, high flow cat and larger O2 housing. The sound from a Buschur 2.5" exhaust is awesome and will match very nicely the aggressive look of the EVO.

The cleanest way to address boost and fuel maps is with an ECU revision. I am an engineer and I like Shiv's detailed and methodical (****) approach to tuning and believe he will deliver to me a correct ECU mod backed up by rigorous testing. With these mods I would expect to be around 310 to 320 HP and $1500 poorer. Worth it? I guarantee a 12 sec car is a hoot to drive on the street

Once I get the engine to meet my goals, I hope to see an LSD available in the future. I don't know enough about suspension tuning (yet) to have any preferences and have a lot to learn concerning autosports other than drag racing. Should be fun.

Why not 3" exhaust? That's pretty much the standard for 4G63 eclipses and talons, I would think it's the same for evo's.

I want to hear one of these, I don't remember what thread but there was a japanese one I hadn't heard of and it had about a 2 minute clip of various runnings and what not and it sounded really good and deep, not squeely' at all.

The 3" is too loud for my taste while the 2.5" sounds just right to me. It does not sound like a Honda. The stock turbo is 16g and unless you are going to upgrade it, a 3" may not be worth the extra money.

The reason the DSM'ers go with 3" is to match the exhaust with 20G and larger turbo's and everybody else gets 3".

I make my own parts.

Ok, so I made 2.5" intercooler piping, a cold air tube and filter blockoff, and a blow off valve modification.

Other than that, I have:
ACT2600 clutch
RC 550 injectors
Griffen frount mount intercooler
Mitsubishi small TD05H-16G 7cm
TRE ported exhaust housing
Self-ported exhaust manifold
RSR turbo-back 3" exhaust
DSMLink ECU
VDO boost gauge
Intellitronix fuel pressure, water temp, oil pressure gauges
Hallman boost controller
K&N filter
KYB AGX shocks
Ground Control Coilovers

I guess you can figure out where I am on the spectrum. I buy what works, and what won't waste my money.
