Would you trade a Evo 8 for a M3?
Just wanted to get some opinions. I have a 03 silver evolution 8 with a vishnu stage 1, 18" volk GT-7, tanabe coilovers, gauges, and 9800 miles on it.
There is this person that is willing to trade me his 01 BMW M3 light blue, 6 speed, and 20,000 miles. The M3 is in excellent condition. He wanted to trade me plus I give him $3500 cash. He said he liked the evo and didn't want to pay for the insurance on his M3. I guess it's pretty high.
I just wanted to know how many of you guys would make this trade?

I guess the next question would be mods. Do you have the money for quality mods for the M3? BMW mods can be expensive. If you don't, the mods for the evo are probably cheaper. Just guessing though I haven't done any research.

I would do it but without the cash. Considering the years and mileage your cars are very comperable; and he's the one initiating the trade, so he wants it more than you more likely.
On the other hand i see 1 evo for every 10 E46 M3's.
But ya i would wrather have an M3 then my car.

l like the m3 but am happy with my purchase. i bought the evo for the 4 doors, awd and the thrill of driving. being able to work on it myself and save money is a big plus. go back to the reasons why u bought the evo and compare it to the M3. if u ever thought the evo was costly to maintain, ago look at the M3.

I would get rid of my evo for an m3 because mine is getting on my last nerves as a daily driver. Sure its faster and can out handle the m3 but I never get the chance to take advantage of it

Have you driven an m3? If not, I reccomend doing so, because I was not impressed at all when I drove a 2003 m3 with SMG2. I like the evo much better. Also keep in mind that 2001 is the first year M# of that particular body style, and they had some problems with the motor.

If you like looks and class and don't mind sacrificing some performance go with the M3. They are great cars but they are not evos (awd turbo monsters). Modding is expensive and you don't get much peformance youd like for the price of the mods. They M3 is worth around 33k and your evo without the mods about 25k. So I think you are getting a good deal. If you like modding and don't care for the creature comforts of the M3 than just stick with the evo. Also think about practicality, It is a coupe so fitting people comfortably is going to be a problem. However you get great quality as in all bmw's. I don't think you should really ask us what you should do but instead ask yourself what you want because you drive it not us.

in a heart beat. i love the evo and all but the M3 is just a classy car. however, i wouldn't get the m3 unless it was either new or certified pre owned. you do not want to drive a bmw with no warranty no matter what!!!!
