Usdm Gsr?

So, there are four different levels Evos.

EVO RS
EVO W/SSL
EVO W/O SSL
EVO MR

So my question is this, Is the USDM evo with or without SSL, called a GSR and if it isn't why do people say GSR?

No it's not a GSR, people use the term just for convenience when differentiating models.

Mitsubishi probably would have called them that, had it not been for the fact that the '03 Evo was "GSR" only - no MR or RS to make a difference. But I'd say yes since all the models are missing something from their JDM counterparts.

There is no such thing as a USDM Evo at all. They are all made in Japan.

Domestic market cars are made in the country that you are referring to. USDM cars are Chevys, Fords, Dodges, and a few imports.

By "US Domestic Market", people are referring to cars sold in the U.S domestic market i.e U.S Showrooms.

Classic. You won't accept that it is a GSR but you will call it an Evo 8 even though it is an Evolution.

IMO It is in fact a GSR since that is what Mitsubishi calls it in the US Parts program.
The Sales people never called it that so everyone goes by that. When did we start to listen to salesman?

evo is what i call the car. i hope most people reading this can understand thats its an evolution i was talking about

but gsr is not even listed on the owners window sticker, nor in the owners manual!

but the more technical / proper name would be
2003 Lancer Evolution VIII

u cant forget the lancer .......

I always considered the middle of the road car the GSR. In Japan thats what the normal Non MR non RS models are called. And yes I know they can come with SSL or even the 6speed as standard in Japan GSR. But I see it as easier to differentiate between the three lines since thats how I recognize the Japanese varients. Its semantics really.

My point was, Mitsubishi did not call it an VIII in the US in 03. Not whether it's an evo or evolution.
