New Club on Evom: Truth Squad
I would like to start a new e-club right here on Evom and I'm wondering if anyone else is interested. I want to get experienced members who are willing to be completely honest and 100% independent of various shops and tuners to join and promise to always be truthful, approach topics from a scientific standpoint as much as possible, and speak the truth to power.
Although this is not a crap-talking club to air various tuner's dirty laundry, it will nevertheless be unpopular with lots of vendors who make outrageous claims, overcharge, demonstrate atrocious customer service, and/or intentionally mislead. It should help this forum as a whole, which has somewhat deteriorated into Intake, BOV, and Exhaust threads.
Vendors, Shops, and Tuners would not be allowed to be a part of this group. Bottom rung moderators like Mitsuorder and Fourdoor would be encouraged to join, but top Admin?? That is debatable, as they often have to stick up for paying vendors even when they might be in the wrong... I want folks who join to be outspoken, but always looking for the truth. I won't put my name first, cause I don't want to run anything, just want to get it started.
The purpose of the club is simple: Give new and continuing members good information, call BS when we see it, and have fun doing it.
Members would be asked to either share an avatar or come up with the most funny Avatar possible with the words "Truth Squad" in it. Any suggestions?
Membership is now open:

Smoggy, you should be #1. It doesn't mean you have to run it, just that you're the first member and founder.

being a scientist (well engineer), I can be scientific in my approach. Not much EVO experience yet, but fairly car savvy when it comes to turbos, fuel injection, combustion theory, fluid flow, pressure drop, etc. Lots of supra experience that should translate very well. I'm sure I don't have the name recognition and "weight" as some of the evolved members, but I'd like to be a part of this if possible. I can send credentials if need be :-).

Not trying to be a **** in any way, but is there a reason you're trying to assemble in a group rather than just letting people act independently? Something tells me you already know who meets the criteria, and that most of those who do will continue to (regardless of affiliation) while those who do not will, by and large, continue not to. Iono. Seems well intended, but a little unnecessary.
Go kill some of the I/H/E threads in the Lancer forums and I'll love you forever. I couldn't even do it as a Super Mod.

HK,
The reason is that there is power in numbers. By the time newbies figure out who to trust, they have already wasted $3,000. It was really hard for me three years ago to figure out which direction to go.
Also, as of right now, only Tuners have "followings." I want an INDEPENDENT group of experienced members to have a "home base."

This would never survive on this site.

I figure it starts to register once people realize the 2nd word is Talon, as in the DSM Eagle Talon, which is where I started. "Warr" is just a nickname that I go by, so there ya have it...
Anyway, I try to do what you suggest already, but I got my final warning from Speedlimit already this week, so I'm done pointing out BS or dealing with stupid newbie questions. I will stick to the Drag Racing forum, but Evo General can now devolve into the inevitable cesspool that I was trying desperately to avoid. I was told that people's "enjoyment factor" would increase if I discontinued my mission, so enjoy!

I'd be up for it...the internet is the single greatest source of disinformation on the planet. This forum, or any other fourm for that matter, is no exception. Problem is, it's a commercial venture supported by the vendors. I doubt it'll be allowed. So much for free speech and the free internet. Coup d'etat! Just keep the price of bread low and the Bourgeoisie will be happy
