Truth Squad Poll: How much have you spent on your Evo.

First, whatever you do, don't let your wife or girlfriend see this post!
How much have you spent on your Evo for any kind of mods. If you have sold parts, you may subtract that amount from your total. It would be super helpful if you are willing to be honest enough to list exactly where you got your part from. If you have the time and are honest enough, post up EVERYTHING you have put into the car.

Don't include perishables (race fuel, oil changes, brake pads, primary set of everyday tires) or items that transfer easily to other cars (race helmut, head unit, amps, radar dectector). Exception: DEFINITELY INCLUDE CLUTCHES. Do include labor for somewhat advanced work, but not stuff that the average guy could read the instructions and do himself without special tools. (i.e., boost gauge labor: don't include, clutch or camshaft install: OK)

Do include repetitive costs, i.e.: custom tune, second custom tune, third custom tune.

Please take time to calculate before you vote so that your answer is really accurate. I'll work on my total off line and copy and paste it in a little while.

Truth squad hypothesis: Veteran members may be overly opinionated and a pain in the butt to moderators at times, but they are a cash cow to the most important vendors on this forum: The tuners and custom fabricators such as AMS, Vishnu, Buschur, TurboTrix, Dynoflash, Precision, etc.

Unpaid parts and labor:
- Steering column single pod (local friend) + Autometer Boost Gauge (local STi driver) + installation (TheSpeedFactor)
- S-AFC I w/harness (had for 5 years)
- Megan 3" Downpipe + Testpipe + CEL fix (TheSpeedFactor)
- Dynoflash
- Kartboy shifter bushings (MachV - raffle item at DSMCA GT8)

Paid parts and labor:
- Megan 3" Cat-back = $350 (TheSpeedFactor)
- Hallman Pro MBC = $85 (TheSpeedFactor)
- K&N Panel Filter = $70 (Advanced Auto)
- Pocketlogger = $110 (Palm M100 used off Amazon, T16-003 interface from MultiplexEngineering.com, and free software)
- Fields Harness for S-AFC = $150 (what a ripoff from Extreme Motorsports - can be had for much less)
- JDM MR DV = $130 (MachV when everyone else was out and since they are 2 mins from my house - can be had for $110 from username NoLimitMotors)
- Walbro 255lph Fuel Pump = $50 (local Evo'er who never installed it)
- ACT HDSS + Stock Flywheel + Install = $1500 (clutch from NoLimitMotors for $475, flywheel and install through local Mitsu dealer)
Total for paid parts and labor = $2445 (60% of total from clutch)

Miscellaneous (not sure if these should be included):
- 17X8 +35 MM Charcoal Grey Rota Torques (match GG MR) = $600/set (MachV)
- 235/40R17 Kumho Ecsta V700 R-Compounds = $144/ea (Tire Rack via TheSpeedFactor)
Total for racing rims/tires = $1200 (The rim/tire combo was used only for autocrossing and road racing and now has Blizzaks installed for the winter)

Grand total including power mods, clutch, and racing rims/tires = $3645. I have also spent a good bit of money on NGK BPR7ES and race gas with around 20 racing events attended last year.

$2200 - clutch/tbe/K&N panel/dynoflash/dv/all season tires

but by summer it will be paid off, then the evo savings account gets drained

which is around $6000 right now

This is stuff I have, unfortunately nothing installed except the filter until it gets warmer out.

Megan TBE - $630 (should have gone through Zeus, I know)
UTEC w/ map switch, MAP sensor, ABC - $575 (used)
Dyno day w/o tune - $60 (i think)
K&N panel filter - $60

Total - $1325

As of right now, my goal for the car will eventually be 340-350 pump, 370-380 race gas tuned, out the door for less than $5k.

$550 - tires and alignment
$60 - K&N drop-in air filter

Aside from an oil tanker's worth of gas and about $130 on oil changes, that's it. Overall, the Evo isn't prohibitively expensive (in my opinion). Gradually, though, I may want to spend a little more on minor mods.
