I suggest that you try the Dragon on the way down to Florida, that might make you change your plans and come back to the Dragon early to spend more time there, you'll love it.
Cherohala Skyway is the other road that you are referring to, it is good as well. Less traffic and long sweepers, but not as much fun as the Dragon.
Have a great time and give us a full reveiw, with pics, when you return!

The best time I did to nashville is about 8 hours, so Im guessing about 3-4pm I will be at Deals gap. i will for sure take your number with me and give you a ring when Im leaving nashville. There was another road/hwy around there "...... Skyway" is all I can remember.
Is there anyplace to stop while on the dragon, some type of wayside or something? Just for pictures. Too bad Im going in the off season and with the wrong tires on the car. So I will be sure to take it slow the first time, but on my way back drive a little more spirited.
For those of you who say take radar detectors, I dont like using them because if I did well lets say Im sure my license would be gone. I have 2.5 weeks down there Im really in no hurry.
The only time i really need to be in Florida is on the 22nd so TTP can flash the car real quick. Sorry Scott but your luggage can wait, the plane isn't leaving without you.

To tell you the truth Im leaned out to 14.9-15.0 since April 05 and Ive been getting 280-300 a tank city and highway. Took a trip to Alabama stayed out of boost with these setting and I saw 424miles on 1 tank WITH 1 1 1/2 gallons of gas left.

That is the number 1 reason why I really don't want to go alone (driving that is) I have a tendancy to wander from time to time and can be just content sitting at the road side looking at the scenery. Dammit now I might have to take a few more days off from work, this is going to be one long vacation
Sorry if this is a crappy pic but this is where most of the bikes head out by me. The farthest hill away from the camera is knwn as hog's back hill on the back side is a very very steep drop, then to a 90 degree right (blind corner) fun area in the summer time

Well I just figured it out.
from my doorstep to robbinsville, NC 710.97 miles
from robbinsville, NC to orlando 611.21 miles
TOTAL: 1322.18 miles
If I went a direct route it's 1263.48 miles
Is the dragon worth 58.7 miles and an added hour of driving? Plus I won't have any pictures or cool stories to tell all of you.
Don't worry I will hit the dragon. When I stop in Atlanta I will try a find an unsecured wireless hub and post up

I know you'll be here, but let's put it like this: Knowing how people tend to speak up more when they are NOT satisfied than when they ARE satisfied, how many times have you heard of someone going to Deal's Gap and saying it was great?
How many times have you heard them say it wasn't all that?
It is so popular, I make a living solely standing on the side of the road taking pictures of strangers and they find ME online afterwards to buy their pictures. No signs, very minimal advertising, and we filled over 7000 orders so far this year, with lots of repeat business, averaging over $25 per order.
If you decide to stick around here for more than one day, there are several inexpensive hotels in Robbinsville, ($40-50) or you can probably stay in one of Ron and Nancy's rentals here for nothing as long as they're not booked. They're usually empty this time of year, and it's where my friends stay. My wife is the housekeeper, and we live within 100 yards of all 3.
