Long haul Evo drivers
In less than 2 weeks I will be making a 3000 mile round trip to Florida and back side tracking in NC to drive the dragon. I am wondering what kind of preparations should I do to the car? Heres what I thought of so far:
1. Oil change (about due anyways)
2. New spark plugs (2.5k on copper ngk's)
3. Check tire pressure the day I leave
4. Check tranny and diff fluids
5. Check coolant level
6. Make sure all lights work
7. Maps are in the car already
8. Stock MAF (just in case, i run speed density)
added by members:
8. check air pressure in spare (excellent)
9. key lock (sitting in my tool box, not a good place)
10 nun-chuks (ill probably hurt myself but ok)
11 fix a flat
12 MM tools (eveyone needs a few 10mm wrenches and sockets)
13 good lookin female ("fat" chance not in WI, I'll try to bring one back)
14. Misc tools
I know that I am missing something and just want to be sure I have everything in check before the drive. I am thinking of leaning it out just a little bit to 15.3 while cruising, will this be a noticable gain in MPG? Or should I stay at 14.7? I can document this if need be since there is more than enough mileage to figure this out.
Im sure a few of you out there have done longer trips and want to know of your experiance OTR or some of the problems that you have encountered.
The drive back should be a little more interesting since Scott at TTP will be adding a few new things to the car while there.

I recently drove from Buffalo, NY, to Las Vegas, NV in about 4 days.
I had a fresh change of Mobil 1 in my car, and a fresh set of NGK spark plugs in my car just in case.
I had to change my spark plugs once (they were one step colder than stock, they wear out faster) and that was it.
Everything else in & around the car worked, operated and drove beautifully.
You shouldn't have anything to worry about if your car is in good shape.
Have a good trip!

good ones but the num-chucks thing, I am not a very co-ordinated person unless I have some type of gun in my hand then it's "Sniper: If you run you will only die tired". But keep everything coming guys/gals
Pics will be taken just for all of you wonderful people here.

Car charger for cell phone.
Quarters. Pay phone and tolls(?)
Books on CD. You'll hate your music collection half way down unless you have an iPod with a million tunes.
Small cooler for drinks and snacks.
Camera to snap pics of your drive.
I love road trips. You seem to have most bases covered. If you told me to gas up and drive to California right now, I'd be down. Road trips rule. Have fun.
