Perrin Shorty Antenna Gap?

Hello guys/gals,

I've searched n searched with no result! Anyways, I bought a Perrin Shorty antenna and is it suppose to have a gap? After my research, I've found out that the "jdm" or honda antennas leave a gap, but haven't heard anything about the Perrin one.

If there isn't a gap, what am I doing wrong? Tips, advice, tricks! Thanks!

I'm like grrrr....I ordered this last Tuesday, payed 2nd day shipping to Alaska which is an arm and a leg....After all said and done, (long story short) I got it on Thursday. Dang vendor/ups

Please help with good news, that I can fix the gap or else I'm gonna take a shotgun to the antenna J/K!

I think the set screw on the antenna needs to be tightened down, take the antenna off and check to see how tight the screw is, tighten it all the way to where you wont have a gap.

I had a gap as well on my 05' MR. I bought it from a site sponsor and complained to them. They sent out another one and it was exactly the same problem. I tightened the screw into the antenna as far as it would go but there was still a gap. As annoyed as I was, I just ground down the screw with a dremel and all was well. Not a big job, just annoying. Works fine and sits flush now.

Just go to the local hardware store and get a shorter one, that's what I had to end up doing. I think it affected my reception though so I might buy a reception booster (it's like 4 bucks on ebay).

You could look at it as a 1/8th inch higher for better reception.
