How many miles after low fuel comes on?

Anyone know about how many miles you can go before you run out of gas once the low fuel light comes on?

OF course that depends on your gas mileage, which depends on how you drive, the octane, and the # of gallons left.

I think your real question is how much gas is left when the light comes on. Since I usually drive for quite a while after the light comes on, my guess is there's still 3 gallons after the light comes on. It's at least 2.5...

does fuel octane affect gas mileage?

Yah that's what I figured. Anytime I fill up I usually get about 12 gallons into the tank, leading me to believe I have a couple left.

It has been said that some of the 3 gallons left in the tank are to cool the fuel pump. If you run with the light on for long periods of time you may cause your fuel pump to fail due to lack of cooling.

To add to that, I have pumped in 14.5 gallons before, but I was on fumes, so that's about all there is...

Quick question off subject, but Warrtalon how do you tune for race gas with an SAFC if you cannot manipulate timing. From what I understand when you run race gas you can add some timing to actually make using race gas more efficient?

just did this like 5 min ago, my gas light came on so i filled up the tank and it took 12.0 gals minus the 14.0 gal stock tank. I would say you can safely drive like 30 miles

You remove fuel with the SAFC to lean out the AFRs. when doing this, it fools the ECU into thinking less air is crossing the MAF, and therefore it uses more aggressive timing maps. Simply put, if you lean out the SAFC, you get more timing. It's not direct control of timing, but rather indirect. When on race gas with my SAFC leaned out, I see 24* of peak timing between 7000-7500rpms while running 24-25psi without knock as opposed to 20-21* on pump gas with less fuel removed on 21-22psi.

When ever my gas light comes on, I usually fill up and end up putting about 11.5 gallons in.

If the tank is 14 gallons, then I'd have 2.5 gallons left. Unless its a 14.5 gallon tank. Then 3 gallons. I forget the actual size though.

I believe the tank is a bit bigger than 14 gal. It's 14.xx, not exactly sure . what though.
