Question 04 - K&N typhoon intake on 05?

I was looking up products from K&N for the 05 evo, and there was only 1 oil and 1 air filter... However when i did the same search for an 04 evo i found this part # 69-6543TP . It's a part number for the typhoon intake, i'm just wondering, will this fit and work on my 05? Anyone know?

Don't get the typhoon filter kit its a pos and most people have problems with it. If you already have it then sell it on ebay and buy a drop in or a HKS RS or Injen kit.

I had it on mine. My 03' Horrible intake. YOu can tune your Evo with it, but it has a smaller circumference pipe (less air) and the way they made the intake the air fights itself getting into the turbo. The airflow moves in a circular direction......the problem is that since our turbo is reverse scroll. it is pulling the air in the opposite direction. You can still tune it out...but it is just better not to get the intake at all. Just my .02 cents.

I seemed to loose power at the top end. I put in a different intake and wow what a difference. YOU can tell the difference between that intake and the stock intake. Hope this helps.

It seemed to choke air at higher rpms, above 5500 rpm. I took off the tube and used only the filter and stock intake tube, work pretty good. Its that diverter tab, I think if it was cut off, It would be ok.

I have it on my 03 evo & I don't know what the problem is all about. I don't think you will really gain all that much power from it, but I definitely didn't notice a loss from it. Its really not much different from every other intake out there. Some of the other manufacturers actually use the K&N cone filter on their intakes as well. It certainly isn't the best bang for your buck as far as mods go, but its not as terrible as people on here make it seem to be. Its a nice kit, sounds mean, amplifies your stock/aftermarket BOV sound(if you're into that) and looks clean.

Wow, I've had this intake on my '05 MR for about 10 months, and not a single problem. I even made 10hp to the wheels with just the intake.

Yeah, I guess it doesn't work!

Many people just think it's working fine, but they don't realize how problematic it is. The cone filter portion is not so bad, but the MAF pipe is terrible. You would be the first and only to pick up 10whp simply by adding that intake and doing nothing else.
