oil filter

Mobil 1: M1-108 or M1-110 I like the M1-110 its larger version. I don't like the Mitsubishi replacement filter you get at the dealer. The inside filter material is different than what my car came with from the factory. Mitsubishi decided to replace the original Japanese filter with a cheaper version that is all that is available here in the U.S.

The Amsoil filters are quite nice. I've cut a few open after oil changes on the car and they do a great job.

Derek
I've been told by two different service managers at two different dealers that Mobil 1 makes the Mitsu oil filter for them. Being a dealership, I don't take their word for it.

Can anyone confirm or deny if Mobil 1 makes the stock Mitsu oil filters?

That would be very interesting to know. Wow, I opened up both the origional filter that came with my MR and the replacement one that mitsubishi gave me. The replacement one seemed like cheaper materials were being used. Thats why I chose to go with the Mobil 1 .

I tend to stick with the OEM filters. Although they may not be up to spec compared to the original filter...I change the filter often enough to offset any quality issues the replacement OEM filters may have.

I also use the OEM filter, change oil and filter every 2,500 miles.
