Leasing the EVO

Leasing the EVO
Well I know most of you have bought your EVO but I was looking at leasing. They are hosing us with a 42% resid after 3 years and 38% after 42 months. This compares with 52% resid for a WRX after 36 months. This doesn't make sense as this would imply the $24,000 WRX would be worht more in 3 years than the VO?????????
My undrestanding is that Subaru will be leasing the WRX Sti with a 50% ish resid. If that is the case then EVO's will be availbale dirt cheap for all you guys and girls paying cash. Maybe that is why every Mitsu garage I have seen has many for sale and no buyers.
Anyone found a leasing company that gives a better resid???

Lets keep something in mind when you think about leasing.. Cars that hold their value (from a leasing standpoint) are car that are easy to resell.. Cars like the EVO will probably be abused by many of their owners.. Especially if their leased. I for one would NEVER consider buying a car like this used... Your actually fortunate to have a leasing company willing to do a lease at all, of course, they may still be ignorant of what the EVO actually is..
All cars depreciate, but the rate at which they depreciate really depends on the type of car... family cars generally will have better resale.. The simple reason is their generally well maintained, fairly affordable, and there's always someone just starting a family who needs a safe affordable car...
There are always exceptions, and hopefully in the end, most of us EVO owners will be responsible and their cars will not be thrashed by the time their looking for the next bigger better thing.. There is always a market for a car like this.. Its just hard to keep from getting screwed in the resale market with these cars.

Mitsubishi, or whoever is leasing the Evo, does not want to get stuck with a car that has devalued more than the whole amount you paid in payments over the leasing period. If it has devalued more than the amount you have paid, the leasing company will lose $$ when it attempts to resell the car.
If it depreciates as alarmingly fast as some other Mitsu's, then the low residual value percentage they chose will be spot on.
If it depreciates slower than they anticipated (which I believe it will), then you would be crazy to not buy the car outright at the end of the lease term and sell it privately.
Just remember that the parties arranging the leasing rates have no "real world" idea what the Evo's residual value will be in 3 years (in the US market). So to cover their butts, they are pricing the car like it is going to depreciate faster than it likely will.
This may well be why Mitsu itself is not running a leasing deal on the Evo....

I think are sending a poor message by showing such low residual numbers. If they had any confidence in the value of the car they would keep it at the 52% level as per the stock WRX. I know some may thrash them, but i think most in this forum would agree that they are likely to take damn good care of their new baby!!! A Porshce, a WRX, a 350z d or a WRX or a 350z, .... I can go on.... which some could argue would be thrashe can all be leased with 50% plus residuals and low money factors. My dealer was showing a near 9% lease rate - that is just bend me over, no please no thank you kind of bull.
