my wing has been vandilized by stupid fawks who scratches it and plus it is fading 8- x Should I just keep it and get it sanded down and painted? Wondering if itll be as good as if it was new or cheaper looking. I want it to have the same brand new look when I first got the car 8- )

 

I talked to the guy who did my tint and he told me that wax doesn't protect the carbon fiber for to long he recommended a sealer, said it would last months, i'll try and find out what it's called

 

If you can't sand it and have another clear coat put on. You can get some black vynle and have that laid over the top of the wing. I've had that done to my '03 the same time I got my window tint. I figured that I didn't want to have to go though the whole process again in 3 more years.

So in short, my evo still has its full CF wing....

I don't have to worry about the wing refading....

And if somehting happens to it again, I only have to peal the vynle off, and lay another down. Think about it.

 

Are you sure about that? Not to start drama or anything..

I have an 05, and I was looking at the sides of my wing really close
and I can see what appears to be CF below it. I mean, I can't actually
see the CF, but from the paint applied over it, it almost appears as
though you can see the weave in the paint, almost like they didn't
sand it down perfectly smooth before they painted it...

 

I think it depends on the type of wax you use. Or that is what the rumor I heard said.

Either way, $30 for 6 coats of clear is not a bad deal at all. If it's that cheap, why even bother with the dealer?

 

All Evo8 wings are full CF.

Only the Evo9 wings are not full CF. You can tell by trying to wiggle the wings, the wings on the 8 are a lot more sturdy.

 

My wing was too replaced by the dealership and I can VISIBLY see the weave underneath the paint telling me that it is Carbon Fiber!

 

they changed it on the IX Evo_Joe told me... I think it is kind of cheap

 

The IX are not all CF. According to the TSB the updated VIII's and all of the IX spoilers are " more durable".

 

the evo 9's are full CF they are just painted on the sides, both inside and outside of the siding, as the evo 8's siding is just painted on the outside
