I went with springs and wheels. Springs absolutely suck. Keep the wheels, suck it up and save for coilovers too!

I say it depends on what you plan on doing. The most important handling mod for racing purpose (road racing/autocross) is a nice set of R-compounds. These will help you more than any set of coilovers. I prefer to use my spare set of Rota Torques for mounting race tires, which I use for real racing. I do not have coilovers yet, because I have not yet gotten to the point where I'm skilled enough to maximize the utility of the stock suspension.

If and when my skills match the stock suspension (or surpass it), I will get a nice set of coilovers to COMPLEMENT my race tires. I think that this should not be a decision of rims vs coilovers. It should be a decision of functionality vs functionality. If those rims are just for looking nice, then get the coilovers. If the rims are for having a spare set of rims for racing, then keep the rims. Put some r-comps on the Rotas or use those as daily drivers and put r-comps on your stock Enkeis.

That's my opinion...

They do a nice job of lowering, but I don't know how much they help handling...

also depends on the type of springs you are looking at...a set of tein s-techs are not going to improve your handling but they'll signifigantly lower your Evo

I vote for the coilovers because I believe in performance before looks, but there's quite a price difference between the two... good luck with your decision

If you read my response, I consider the rims to be more of a performance gain than the coilovers, because he needs race tires for racing. I equate the Rotas with having a 2nd set of rims for race tires when road racing. I think coilovers would be the best mod to do next after race tires.

Strange...before you wrote this, his previous post said exactly what you suggested, but then he edited it to "bump." Weird.
