I use Fram PH3596 and have since the car was new. I have bumped into many things and have never gotten close to hitting the oil filter.

I use the same oil filter and the one pictured. Fram tough guard right? Anyway, with that tall filter and the Greddy oil block "sandwhich plate" adaptor, the filter still does not hang below the underpanel. I haven't had any problems with mine.

Anyway, sorry to hear about that, hope it's not any worse than it appears.

I use the same filter and have had no troubles with it. My car is dropped almost 2 inches as well.

I thought the K&N 1008 was just a bit smaller than OEM though.

Wow, that sucks man. I need an oil change so I am going to go pick up my K&N oil filter. I have heard a lot of good things about it.

Man it's a good thing you have an oil pressure gauge. I hope everything turns out to be ok.

Mobil 1 filter also...no problems in the last 2 years. It's a little longer than the OE filter, but still protected and definitely not the lowest point on the car.

You must have hit something pretty high

my sentiments exactly.
My E7 is slammed..very very low and I've been using fram filters for a long time now and I too have never gotten close to hitting it.

thing is...the mitsubishi here in Trinidad..if you go to them and ask for a oil filter for an evolution, they sell you the fram filter....lol

so I ended up just buying the fram filter at a normal car parts place.

Last night at dust I heard something hit the bottom of the car. Then the slight smell of oil.............Look at my oil pressure gauge and it is at 5-10psi. Whip a left into a parking lot and shut the motor down.

MATTj.

yea i think thats it. i don't think FRAM is responsible for this. Looks like the oil filter being too long was the cause of your troubles
