Also have a 9 and currently just a catback and flash installed. The catback made a big difference in spoolup, it seems that the car wants to rev faster. I ordered a high flow cat which is on its way and currently looking for a downpipe to complete the system. I too am scared of getting pulled over and them finding out I have no cat. I will try to gut the cat though so it is more free-flowing. As long as it visually looks stock I would feel safe. In the even I get tested I can just bolt on the stock cat.

Hey Silex,
Where in SD are you from? I haven't seen a Black IX around yet. Seen 2 other GG IXs besides mine, and a Silver one. I see a lot of 8s though.
For exhaust, it depends how much you want to spend. I am paying a good amount for RnRs because I wanted some extra things put in plus the HKS muffler. I think it will be well worth the money spent for your own taste and needs.

I'm in the UTC area actually . Right near UCSD. I'm probably going to go also with RnR's setup. Havn't decided yet on the options. I've got a bunch of other stuff coming in so first thing's first.

Intakes and blow-off valves are not really the best performance mods. Go full TBE and a reflash. You'll be blown away. I started with a CB and an EcuTek flash and dynotune. It was nice, but still left me wanting more. Put on a Tanabe DP and high-flow cat and, even before another flash and tune, it was like a shot in the a$$. After the tune this car is pretty fast. Spinning all 4 wheels across an intersection on a dry warm day is something every Evo needs to experience first hand.
