1st. Post, Hello & ? about APS 3.5 exh.
Hi all!!! This is my first post. Been here researching alot, its a great forum! Ive learned alot, THANKS!!! I just got an Evo IX GG MR & its awesome. Anyhow I ordered an APS 3.5 TBE for the MR. When I install the TBE can I weld a bung to the pipe near where the cat used to be & thread my 02 Sensor in there? I want to avoid the CEL factor. I would rather not use the Perrin 02 Simulator. I just want to make sure Im good to go. After I get the exhaust installed I plan on getting Reflashed & install a new filter in the stock airbox at the same time. Any feedback is much appreciated.
Thanks
Thanks

You will still get a CEL since you will not have a cat. The 2nd O2 sensor needs the cat in front of it. The Perrin O2 simulator works fine, I've had it for over a year.

if you want to eliminate using the perrin O2 sim., just get the ultimate racing cat delete. Their's has a side extension of pipe that creates the kind of pressures, etc. in the exhaust that will simulate the cat being in there. you simply plug in the stock o2 sensor into the extension pipie....i have it, I say it looks like a bong.. to give you a better visual

..or you can buy a $5 set of 2 18mm spark plug anti-foulers from Autozone. Drill one out (so the O2 sensor can thread into it) and then thread the drilled out one into the one you did not drill out. Then thread the 2 anti-foulers (which are now threaded together) into the O2 bung on the exhaust, and thread the O2 sensor into the back of the anti-foulers. Works like a charm, I've been running that for 9000 miles with NO CEL.

I was guaranteed it will fit by the dealer in Chicago area Im getting it from. The APS 3.5 TBE kit also comes with the Perrin 02 Sim. too. So I guess Ill use that. I will post me results from the install along with some pics in a few weeks.

I was told from the guys at DynoComp that they heat the down pipe section and put a notch in it to clear the front transfer case.

Well, the vender I ordered the exhaust from couldnt get it after all. So I just went ahead & got a 3" TBE from AMS. Everything fit perfect. The silencer is angled to the right & exits the rear of the evo beautifuly. The exhast tip sticks out about 1/2" from the rear of the car & looks perfect. Also the Perrin O-2 sim. works as is supposed to. I forgot to get pictures when it was on the lift. Oh yeah, removing/reinstalling the Zero Lift Kit front airdam with about 50 of the plastic pop screws was fun.....
